Gender

How common is it for gender to be mistaken? I’ve heard so many stories about women being told they’re having a girl and then happen to give birth to a boy. This has also happened to a couple of people I know. Had our gender scan and was told it was a girl but I’m just so worried they may have got it wrong😂 I’m 100% happy with either but just worried about being completely prepared for a girl and it not being that way🥲 although we had 2 sonographers in our scan who both said girl, do I need to be worried or am I just overthinking it?

I’m having a little boy and during our scan it was very obvious it was a boy 😂 I think the fact you had 2 sonographers in the room, it’ll be accurate. Boys are very easy to spot on the scan so I wouldn’t worry that it’s wrong

I think as long as it was your 20 week or a later scan I wouldn’t worry I know earlier scans can be wrong but if the sonographer wasn’t sure at 20 weeks she would say she can’t quite get it

I had a private scan 16 weeks and it’s a girl then every other scan I have had afterwards I asked them to confirm she was a girl

I had a private scan at 16 weeks, and from the pictures she looks very clearly like a girl, however I will be confirming at every future scan that she is!!🫶🏼

Thank you everyone🫶 I’m 20 weeks today so I’m sure it’s pretty accurate I just can’t help but worry😂 I feel better that we had 2 sonographers in the room who both had the same opinion, I’m tempted to book a private scan in a couple of weeks to confirm🙂

I’ve got my scan tomorrow and this has popped up. I pray I get told the right gender 😂😂

@Jade I’m very tempted to book in for a private scan in the next couple of weeks just to confirm😅 xx

I’m coming up to 36 weeks so it’s been 16 weeks since we’ve found out the gender and for the past 16 weeks I have been questioning it every day 😭😂 for some reason I’m so paranoid that they’ve got it wrong!! Obviously the main thing is that baby’s healthy, but for the past 16 weeks I’ve had it in my mind that it’s a girl and I’ve been getting excited about it even though it didn’t matter what gender they were before I found out and I actually wanted a boy more.. however now I know it’s a girl, that’s what I’ve been looking forward to and got a name for her and we’ve known her as that for weeks even though she’s not born yet so ngl I’d be absolutely devastated if it comes out a boy and I am terrified it will 😂

@Dana we said from the start that we didn’t mind what we were having but I’ve heard it’s quite common for a girl to be mistaken for a boy and it’s happened to at least 3 people I know so I’m just worried it’ll happen to me😂 we also have names picked for each gender so isn’t an issue. I am 20 weeks today and not high risk so not due another scan but definitely considering a private scan to confirm because I just overthink it all the time😂

My scan was gendered a girl at 21 weeks. But I’ve had a boy 😂 x

@Caitlyn the same happened to my friend and also my partners cousin, both were told girls and turned out to be boys, it’s definitely more common than I thought😂 I’m so happy to know the gender finally but just can’t seem to be 100% on it yet😂🥲
