I was in the same boat as you, having PCOS and getting only 1-2 periods a year, usually every 4-6 months. Had to do IVF to get pregnant with my daughter (my first child). After having her, I got my first period 3 months / 10 weeks PP. I wasn’t using birth control yet, considering it took me 4 years to get pregnant with my daughter, and only after IVF did it actually happen, I didn’t think I “needed” birth control. Anyway, didn’t get my period again after that, but about 2 months later I started feeling pregnancy symptoms, and sure enough I was pregnant with my son, only 4 months PP! So yes, it’s possible and be careful! Lol you’re very fertile in that first year after having a baby and the hormones do help your body regulate. Now that my second child is 17 mos old though, my cycles are back to their usual “once every 4-6 mos” 🤷🏼♀️
He’s a super cute baby btw! Congrats!
@Stephanie I think I’m comparing to people who have normal periods and don’t have PCOS then hahah. Just thought it was normal to get them before 8 weeks xx
If you’re exclusively breastfeeding it’s not unheard of to not have a period until baby starts solids - both times it returned about 6 weeks after solids (my first daughter started eating a bit sooner than my second) If you’re formula or mixed feeding I think as soon as 6-8 weeks is “normal”
@Laura not gone on any birth control yet as I don’t know if I want to either with it taking so long for us to get pregnant. But also don’t know if I want any more as my LB has been a nightmare and has bacially said he’s to be an only child 🤣 I also had a 3rd degree tear so still pretty scared to let my partner anywhere near me hahaha xx
It’s early even not breast feeding because I couldn’t I didn’t get mine until 12 weeks. When your breast feeding I don’t think you get it until your almost done because of the hormones that produce breast milk stop your period.
I am breastfeeding and got my period back 6 weeks postpartum! My period are and have always been like clockwork though so maybe it is a good sign for you!! X
I have PCOS and had quite long cycles, I was exclusively breastfeeding my first baby and didn’t get a period until 11 months postpartum. Went a couple of months before the next one but then they became more regular, very close to a normal 28 day cycle and I even had two in one month once. Well because of this shortened cycles I got caught out with when I was ovulating and fell pregnant again when my son was 21 months old!
Late? I think you mean super freakin early I didn’t get my period until 7 and 8 MONTH post partum with my 2 babies
