How do you fight the loneliness/sadness?

I got through this with my first after about a year. Now I have a newborn and toddler at home, mornings are usually good but I feel so lonely, sad, and weirdly homesick after lunch and just wait for my husband to get home. Then we do dinner and bedtime and get through the night just to do it all again 😅 I know it’s mostly hormonal right now and I’m just bored as it’s harder to get out and go do things we used to while baby is so small but I hate this feeling. I go outside with the kids often but just feel trapped in this

i’m going through the same right now. i’m a first time mom with a 2 month old and mornings are usually fine but once the sun starts to set i get so sad and lonely and can’t wait for my husband to come home but he works late and usually doesn’t come home until 11pm. it’s tough but im hoping it’ll get better soon. it helped me to always have the tv on or a podcast or just some kind of background noise. maybe it’ll get better once we can finally get more sleep lol

@Amber I hope so! Hopefully once we can start doing things again when the baby is older, I’ll feel better! We used to go everywhere together as a family and now I usually stay behind because our daughter is only near 3 weeks old so I’m not trying to do all that yet lol but it gets soooo lonely

@Kate we’re just now starting to go out a little more and my daughter is already 10 weeks old lol but i’m still too nervous to go out with her by myself yet but yes it’s the being stuck at home that’s the worst part especially when it’s a nice day out and you can only be out for a little bit before the baby is hungry or needs something. it makes me feel better not being the only one going through this.

@Amber with my first, I started going on stroller walks every single day and it helped my mental health LOADS. Then I started doing the walks every morning at the parks and sometimes I’d go on solo walks on trails with a carrier but looking back, too sketchy and won’t be doing that again 😂

I totally feel this too. I try to get out for a walk or two everyday. My son is almost 13 months and he loves being outside.

basically just being patient amd trying to talk to other mothers who can relate. I feel trapped too, i dont know what else to do because i know its something i have to do and theres no getting out of it x

I feel like this often it’s really hard getting through the day when you’re home alone with kids. If we cannot go out somewhere even window shopping at target or grocery stores I call someone close to me on the phone and we talk for a long time. Makes me feel less lonely.

Thanks for posting this, it is a reminder that I am not the only one feeling this way. I am pretty new to staying at home, I tried to go back to work after he was born, and it worked until we had to start using daycare. We then realized it was a better fit for our family for me to stay home. I love it, I love seeing my baby learn each day, and getting all the smiles and cuddles. I am lonely though. I went from a career and coworkers I talked to all day, to being just me and my 8 month old. That is mostly why I joined this app. I am hoping it will get easier as we find a routine. I am trying to make sure we get outside, and out of the house- for my own mental health and because it’s good for him to be in different environments.
