Floor bed against wall

At what age does it become safe to have one edge of a floor bed against a wall?

In general I would avoid it for babies under 12 months but if your baby is over 6 months and logistically the bed has to be against a wall then make sure the gap is tightly packed with rolled up towels or blankets!

My baby has had a double bed made into a floor bed since she was 5 months. It’s the only way we could get her to sleep alone ! Lovesssssss it still

@Gemma thank you. He’s 13 months now so that’s good to know. Currently it’s not against any walls but the room would potentially be easier if we had it against one. It would be the head end so I’m thinking that would just be like having a headboard in a normal bed? Do the rolled up towels/blankets not increase the suffocation risk?

Mine has been up against the wall since around 7 months. We filled the gaps with the electrical foam tubes (look like pool noodles) and covered them in mattress sheets so baby doesn't play with/destroy them

@Lia that’s great, thank you!

We stuffed the gap with pool noodles packed tightly under the sheet. My lo is 16mo but been this way with no issues since 12 mo

@Gemma very much so, thank you!

@Natallie that’s great, thank you!

I have heard of a child who suffocated in the gap at 5 years old so I would personally keep it away from the wall

@Maria oh god that's terrifying.
