Babies going home outfit

I am weirdly feeling a strange amount of pressure about baby girls going home outfit.. I want to start getting things washed and packed in a hospital bag this month but every list I’ve seen have specified “going home outfit” separate from the sleep suits and vests. All I’ve bought in newborn size is vests and sleep suits as everyone I know have said that’s what they’ll be living in as newborns. What constitutes a going home outfit?? Are people doing actual outfits or special onesies?? I don’t even know where to start 😂

I was just thinking a sleep suit and cardigan as it'll be cold. My MIL has crocheted cardigans, blankets and hats so my little one will probably be wrapped up in those and you won't see what's underneath x

I don’t think you have to by any means. I’m the opposite and have only bought cute silly things so far rather than anything practical lol but trying not to buy millions of things until the nursery has furniture in it to be able to tidy away

I just bought a nicer sleepsuit for my daughter so she was comfy but looked cute for photos. For my son I’ll do the same, maybe with a cardigan or something over. I’m really struggling to find anything I like this time. 😅

I had a going home outfit and it literally didn’t get worn until he was 1 months old! I ended up shoving him in a next sleepsuit because it was easy and I was in pain and tired 😂💗 Baby girl this time il do a nice sleepsuit that’s it

I posted about this before, I feel huge pressure about his little coming home outfit🥺 I never knew it was a thing until I got pregnant🥲! I can't find anything i like at all🥺 xx

3 years on and I can’t remember what my daughter wore for her going home but I always remember this cute lemon print zip onesie which was her first outfit after birth. I have kept it for my second and want it to be her first outfit too I love it so much. Go easy on yourself and pack two or three of your favourites and go with whatever works on the day!

I’ve wondered this 😆 it’ll be freezing so they’ll be wrapped up anyway, I don’t think it really matters? My hospital is a ten minute drive away so I don’t really understand the whole going home outfit 🙈 xx

With my first I bought a special outfit from the white company.. he didn’t wear it, I was too tired to faff about with buttons so he wore a onesie 😂

I never knew this was a thing! I’ve not bought anything for baby yet and only plan on buying neutral coloured baby grows etc at first as we aren’t finding out the gender.

For my first I bought him a “nicer” sleep suit, but after an explosive nappy as we were about to leave he came home in a sleepsuit from a multipack 😂 and I can’t actually remember what that going home outfit looked like… you’ll be in such a bubble you are just glad to get home! Don’t put pressure on yourself!!

Most of the clothes I brought to the hospital were too small so my first ended up in a random onesie but I had chosen a nice knitted cardigan as it was really cold. He was mostly covered up with a big blanket anyway so don't put any pressure on yourself. I was so tired from the 5 day stay in hospital and not much sleep that I wasn't really concerned about his going home outfit and was just more excited about taking him home.

I think the going home outfit concept comes from countries and maybe it used to be the case here, where the babies are in hospital vests and clothes until they go home. Just put the baby on something you like but don't worry about it. Going home clothes are just normal baby clothes! I had my first one in a H&M set that I bought after my 12 weeks scan 😊

we had an announcement outfit and a coming home outfit i spent so much money on them both for him to wear them both for no more than 30 mins not doing that this time it’ll just be a plain baby grow and hat😂
