The C word!

Christmas … what’s everyone buying? Not buying much and I’ve told family and friends to buy next size up in clothes or give gift vouchers. But what toys do people recommend for a 9 month old? Or toys / books that can be useful between 9-12 months. I’m getting a toy box and a walker … any other ideas please? FTM

Absolutely nothing. I have a 3 year old and our house is full of stuff already. I’m just going to wrap up some toys he already has so that he can have a go at unwrapping and playing with all the waste paper and boxes and everything else that is much more interesting than actual toys. Don’t feel that you have to go ‘all out’. Charity shops are great for stuff for younger children. They don’t know any different. Some things we have that were used lots at a similar age with my daughter that we still have now 3 years later: Sensory balls, stacking cups, building blocks, wooden puzzles, musical instruments, sensory scarves, tuff tray/play table (like the ikea flisat).

We’ve sort of said we aren’t going crazy but we are looking at a toniebox as her main gift as she loves stories and songs etc and she’s got a slide and walker from a set of grandparents plus vouchers, then we want to get a few books to complete collections she already has and then we may take her to a toy shop nearer the time and see what she gravitates towards 😂

Honestly, not a lot 🤷‍♀️ I've gotten some bath books so far, and I'll probably get some clothes for her. I've asked family and friends to keep gifts to the absolute minimum. If they need to buy toys, then keep it to 1 small one and preferably bigger size clothes or money to go in her savings.

@Jayde bath books / toys is a good idea! We don’t use any yet. Thank you. I’m not buying a lot at all I just figured I’d end up buying a walker anyway so going to use as a gift instead. & a toy box will come in handy! I was more thinking of buying more books etc useful books / sensory toys

my girl will be 9 months at christmas and i’ve got her a ballpit, a walker ( push along one) plastic fruit and veg (for a toy kitchen but we are going to use them to either play with or to learn with) shape sorter, teething toys & rattle toys, books, clothes, puzzles, bubble machine, toy remote control xx

My girls got some toys from charity shops/vinted and some clothes. My dad got her swimming lessons, my moms got a few toys, MIL got her wooden blocks, clothes and toys. My own christmas present off my mom is a storage unit for all these damn toys😂😂 oh and a couple bits for her room as its not decorated, like shelves etc Her dad got her a big mushroom teddy because she could not stop laughing and smiling at it in the shop and then gave it to her now so ill probably still wrap it up😂

Planning on buying very little - maybe a walker??

In going to get an outfit. I won't have the money to go mad this christmas

I’m planning on getting him a ball pit and maybe a walker.

My plan is to get learning and developmental stuff for her and clothes basically thinks she can grow with and told family to do the same as she will only be almost 9 months old at Christmas
