Follow on milk

I am aware that HV say babies can stay on first infant milk until 12 months and I never swapped with my eldest but I am finding first infant milk harder and harder to get hold of but they always seem to have follow on milk in stock. Does anybody use follow on milk or have any experience on it?

I haven’t personally but I know someone that did because of the exact reason and had no issues x

We use follow-on. No issues.

@Li did you do a gradual transition or just go straight over? Does it still fill your baby up the same as somebody once mentioned it made their baby drink less and was actually hungrier?

I asked my HV for this exact reason, she said it would just make them put weight on quicker but I’m no sure how true this is x

My HV said that there isn’t really a difference between the two. The only reason why they have follow on milk cause that’s the one they can advertise. Apparently they can’t advertise the first infant so all adverts you see will always be follow on. But nutrition wise they are exactly the same.

NHS website says to do it gradually. It isn’t kendamil you use by any chance? I really struggle to get that! I now have my mum on the case too so whenever she’s out and about and sees it she buys some and we’ve managed to stay more stocked up since she’s helped look. If you’d rather stay on first infant maybe see if you can get any family and friends to keep there eyes out for it and grab what they can when they see it
