Im on metformin 2x a day and 2 different types of insulin im taking 5 units 15 minutes before bed and 10 units before bed abd in the morning bc all my numbers were high im 34w3d
I’m 36 weeks am on 20 units for bed time and on 6 units for meal time further along the more your hormones change that plays an impact on it all as well
I was on 14-18 units before meals and 28 units before bed
Honestly some women end up on hundreds of units a day. I'm 36 weeks and was on 34 units but just had to lower it as fasting was getting low, so on 30.
18 is not high at all. At 37 weeks I was at 43 units and it was fine. Don’t worry .
I was also diagnosed early and had to keep raising my dosages. My body slowly started to really reject the process. I ended up having to go to the ER for dangerously low blood sugar and all the Dr’s said I was on too much even though I was doing what I was told. I stopped taking insulin and have been managing with diet and exercise and feel so much better. I’m still meeting with all my coaches and monitoring everything but following the “glucose goddess method” and so glad I made the switch. I eat veggies first before a meal and take a 10-20 min walk after every meal and it’s made a massive difference.
@Kali I was on 14-18 units and doing great. Then I decided to pressure clean my house and ended up hypoglycemic and didn't need any insulin for almost 12 hours. I did resume taking insulin after though because I wasn't willing to work that hard again to control my sugar lol
@Debs Yes I will say doing it like this is a full time job! And my body has to adjust to all the extra movement.
GD gets harder to control between 32-36 weeks apparently. It's not your fault - it's hormones especially at this stage. I'm not currently on insulin yet but can I ask why you dislike it so much? Apart from the obviously annoying having to inject yourself bit.
