Our first step towards independent napping was playing in the crib. This allowed him to get used to the space and make positive correlations with it. Then every day I made sure to leave him awake and happy in the crib while I sat next to it or did something close by and every time he was happy in there and I came back I celebrated with him so he continued to make positive connections with the space. After a while of this whenever I was rocking him to sleep and his eyes get heavy I lay him down in there and if he woke up or cried I picked him back up and rocked him again until his eyes were heavy and try again and eventually he just stayed asleep when I laid him down.
My baby is 4m on Friday she has 3 naps a day sometimes only 2. She will not nap unless we go for a walk in the morning first her morning nap then I leave her in the pram while I get some things done, her second nap she needs to fall asleep on myself or my partner sometimes we contact nap with this but we try to put her down. I see a lot of ppl able to pop their baby in their cot for naps but she absolutely will not unless it’s bedtime so we pop her on the sofa (we have a corner one so it’s safe while we tidy the room etc)
