Colostrum harvesting

How much is to much ?

Yesterday I managed to get 10ml and could have got more.

Is this normal because people were saying it would be hard to anything at all.

I don’t think anything is too much or not enough, peoples bodies react differently and I’ve heard sometimes it doesn’t come in until after baby or it comes in during early pregnancy!
I managed to get 4 syringes yesterday evening but I started leaking at like 16 weeks pregnant x

Is this from hand expressing?

Yeah this is all from hand expressing. Didn’t take me too long. Watched a video on the correct way to massage etc. ended up squirting out lol. I have been leaking milk since about 16/17 weeks so not sure if it is due to that x

As much as you want, but it's worth thinking about what you're going to use it for. For most people it's a "just in case", if the baby can't latch, you're in theatre, baby in NICU etc you might want to give some colostrum as their first feed instead of formula. But in the vast majority.of cases, feeding the baby directly from the boob is the best way for them to get the colostrum and start building your supply (if you're choosing to breastfeed that is). Their stomachs can only take 5-7ml per feed on day 1, so having a couple of feeds (10-30 mls for example) might be a good idea, but again it's just in case.

No such thing as too much. Both my first pregnancy and this pregnancy I’ve been able to get loads. I’ve got about 50ml in the freezer from 3 sittings

Peace of mind please

I shot up at 4am last night and had the urge to check my little boy who sleeps in a cot next to our bed.
For the first time he has rolled over and was sleeping on his stomach, my heart dropped.
I was so scared that I picked him up to make sure he was okay and he was just sound asleep…

What are we supposed to do if they roll over in their sleep?! He’s almost 6 months old and I’m prettified of him rolling and it being a different outcome if I don’t wake up..

Just need some peace of mind that this is
okay?

Moving 18 week old to her own room

Just looking for some advice really. I know at this age (18 weeks) she will most likely be going through sleep regression BUT I have been thinking for a while now about the time to put her in her own cot.. she’s in a next to me one at the moment and is constantly hitting the sides with her feet and she’s waking up so so much! Has any other mums moved their babies to their own room?

We have the owlet sock and camera so of course would keep an eye on her and I’m planning on sleeping in the room with her to begin with just to see if she sleeps any better. I know it’s advised 6 months due to SIDS but feel as though we would all get better sleep

I don’t really know what to do as me and my partner are EXHAUSTED

P.s she does nap through the day really well in her own bed so she is used to it

How are you BOTH getting sleep with a newborn?! 😴

Hey mamas 🤍

Looking for any advice or tips on how to protect a few hours of sleep for both me and my partner 🙏

We have a 5-week-old who usually wakes around 12/1/2am (depending on bedtime), and then again around 3/4/5am. My partner works from 7am to 5pm usually, so evenings can feel a bit full-on, and nights are quite broken at the moment (which I understand is quite normal!).

We’re combi feeding, as in the baby has expressed breast milk during the day, and we switch to formula overnight.

Would love to hear what’s worked for you from shifts, routines, anything that helped you both get a bit more rest 💭✨

Colic Baby

Anyone else have a colic baby? If so how do you cope with it and get your sleep in? I’ve tried everything under the sun, on top of this he’s cluster feeding like hell.

Baby slept all night

Sorry, I just need to post this... my little boy is 12w5d and he slept through from 9:30-6am, woke for a feed and went back to sleep until 8:30!!! I can't believe it. I was obviously up every few hours checking on him and making sure he was ok, so I didn't get a full nights sleep 🤣 but I'm so pleased for him! 🎉🥳 (not a brag btw, I'm just so pleased and wanted to share)
