Tips for taking baby to a wedding

Hi all My baby (almost 8 months) goes to bed by 7:30pm each night. We’ll be at a wedding this weekend and I’m afraid he’ll get so fussy by 7:30 that we’ll have to leave early. We’ll be out of town for it so he’s already going to be out of routine. Have you taken your baby to any large and noisy event past their bed time? How did your baby handle it? We will try to get him to take an extra nap or two but wanted to hear how others made it work. Thanks!

We are also traveling for a wedding early next year and would love to hear advice! Personally, I really want our baby to hang with us and enjoy the event. I think it’s important that he be exposed to big cultural and familial settings and I think he’ll have fun being around a ton of family, dancing, and just witnessing such a convivial fun time amongst family. I’m hoping at some point he’ll just tire himself out and fall asleep in the stroller or baby carrier (if he still fits in lol). I want him to be able to enjoy events like this and me not stress out too much about it. We’ll see how it goes lol.

I try to be home as often as possible for bed time, but sometimes that does not happen. We went to a wedding and I just wore my son in a carrier on my chest. He ended up falling asleep and stayed asleep.

We went to a wedding in July and we stepped away and we had our baby in a baby carrier on our chest for naps and then stepped away and put her in her pj’s when it was bedtime and then put her back in the carrier! Changing her to her pj’s definitely helped cue her to relax! And then I also hook a small portable white noise machine onto the carrier to help cover up some of the crazy noise

I went to a wedding and was able to feed and put baby to sleep in her carrier. she cried a little bit, but not bad at all - maybe 5 minutes. We used a white noise machine. I put her down in her stroller and let her sleep while hubs and I took turns hanging out next to her and chatting with friends while the other person danced or whatever. It worked out great!
