Early scan

Was able to see heart beat at 6weeks+0

I’ve got a scan at 6weeks+2 with epu but debating doing a private one tonight as I’m scared it’s ectopic (no signs but doctor said I was at risk of it)

I couldn’t see anything at 6w and they told me to come back 2 weeks later, don’t go too early as it just makes you anxious 😥 x

this is what I’m thinking, they only do abdominal too which I know sometimes is too early to see

if you go private they do internal if they can’t pick anything up on the external one but I’d defo recommend giving it to 7/8 weeks just to make sure x

I think 5+2 external would be too early to see anything. You may see a gestational sac with nothing in it. I don't think it will necessarily aid your worries, as unless there's a fetal pole in your uterus (which is unlikely if your dates are right) then it wouldn't tell you that it's not ectopic if that makes sense?

but surely the gestational sack as long as it’s in the uterus it would be fine? If the sack is in the tube that’s when to worry maybe?🤔

yeah it's the "may be able" that I mean, as in they might not be able to see a gestational sac either, if your dates are even slightly off and you're earlier than you think and it's an abdominal scan it could be really tricky to see anything. Hopefully not, hopefully they'll be able to see something!

really tricky, personally id wait until 6+2 at the EPU, I had a scan at 6+3 and saw a fetus with a heart beat (internal scan) so it was well worth the wait. I'd had IVF and bleeding before that so I know how hard it is sitting in the unknown period.

GP thought I had ectopic pregnancy
I had a scan with EPU, they couldnt even see the sac at that stage. I was given a leaflet unknown pregnancy location. But they did determine they couldnt see anything in other areas either.
They spotted tiny bit of bleeding so they werent sure whether too early or miscarriage! (Or ectopic)

I had numerous bloods taken and then another scan booked week later. It was horrible experience really upsetting BUT
In that scan 6+ baby was like tadpole!

She is healthy 7 month old now!

I basically just saw a tiny circle around that time. Definitely nothing that looked like a baby, and if I remember right I don’t think with my untrained eyes could see a heart beat. He was just a little dot in my tummy

Too early to see anything proper at 5 weeks. They can see heartbeat from 6 weeks with a tiny blob.

They recommend waiting until at least 6 weeks as you may not be able to see anything yet

I had a scan at 5w4d with EPU, we seen a heartbeat however really not sure how common that is I think we got lucky, seen the sac and a tiny blob nothing much from someone untrained x

I’m going to wait til next week, gonna be difficult but I can do it 💪
