Recovery from First C-Section

Hey Ladies first time momma here. Currently 33 weeks and my baby is in breech position so the doctor said they can try to manually turn her at 36 weeks but if that doesn’t work they will schedule me a C-section. If you have had one can you give me any advice. How bad was it? How long was your recovery and do you still experience pains in that area from the procedure? What’s the pros and Cons of a C-section?

I’m 14 weeks pp and feel completely healed. I had a Cat-1 emergency C-section and was given general anesthesia. Within 3 weeks I got a routine going and by 6 weeks I was feeling all better. I was up and walking around within the first week. The more you move around the better but do it at your own pace and don’t force it. Eat soft foods for the first few weeks. The only thing I’m struggling with now is finding the time to exercise and losing this awful mommy pooch! For me the con was my birth didn’t go as I planned so it would be a good idea to have a follow up meeting on what happened because it could be challenging to reconcile.

Recovery is much different if it's an arranged csection than it would be for an emergency one. I had an emergency csection in October 2022, for the first 2 weeks I struggled with the discomfort and inability to move easily, however I wouldn't say it was painful. I did walk to our local shop after about 5 days though and did it daily as exercise and didn't struggle. I'd say by 6 weeks I felt much better, able to move and lift things easily. I remember feeling fully able by 12 weeks. My son is almost 2 now, my scar is barely visible at all, doesn't cause any bother. I still have numbness in that area though, no pain or anything, just numb to touch
