Preeclampsia

So I found out I have preeclampsia and they're keeping me in the hospital until I deliver. They're going to induce me when I hit 37 weeks (a week from now) has anyone else been through this? What was your experience? I am nervous but honestly I'm mostly just bored

It’s not bad to be induced everyone has different experiences!

I had preeclampsia with both of mine. Open to talking if you want to message me!

I had it with my last. It was a fight to get them to even acknowledge I had it bc my blood pressure barely qualified but technically the diagnosis also includes when pressure is more than 40 points higher than baseline. I had every other symptom including super high protein in my urine and the preeclampsia headache which they tried to tell me was a migraine. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and on morphine for the headache which I kept declining bc it did nothing for it. I would only take it when I wanted to sleep bc it would allow me to sleep. They let me go home for 12 hours before induction to get stuff and shower at home. They didn’t even turn over my room so I went right back into it. I had been induced before and it was no different from other inductions. I was actually upset bc I wanted to be induced two days before so he’d have a cool birthday. lol

I was induced with high bp and you usually labour a lot quicker. I had pessary. Labour started an hour later and baby here within 6 hours. Obviously everybody is different. Waiting a week to start the procedure is tough but you are in the best possible place and I am guessing you can move around the hospital once back for checks and drugs etc.

I didn’t have a preeclampsia but a weird autoimmune thing that acted very similar. I was in the hospital for 17 days and then released. I had to go in to the hospital three times a week starting at week 26 (after the hospital stay) and then was induced at 37 weeks. It is SO boring lol. I took advantage of what I was allowed to do. So if you can go for walks, hang out in an outdoor area, read a book, have visitors etc. a nice part of hospitalization is you’re forced to slow down and you get to hear baby’s heart beat everyday! My induction experience was perfect so don’t let the horror stories get to you. It was an amazing labor and my baby was very small but perfectly healthy!

I went into hospital at 38+1 for a check up and was kept in due to having pre-eclampsia. They induced me within a few hours of being there because my baby was measuring so small and my blood pressure was so high. They broke my waters and started me on a drip with induction drugs around 6am and by 2pm she was earth side. I had to stay in hospital for 5 days afterwards until my blood pressure came down which was probably the worst bit. I was just so tired and wanted to be in my own bed. It's difficult when it doesn't go how you planned but you've got this!!!

I was diagnosed with preeclampsia at 40+5 High BP I was induced that day Still a good experience

I had pre-eclampsia and was admitted at 32wks. Spent 2wks on the general ward then moved up to hdu where I had a bariatric bed that rippled to stop pressure sores forming, leg cuffs to stop dvts, an arterial line because they couldn't get BP readings to make sense. An ecg and 3 canulas across both arms. I was strapped like a starfish basically on this bed having observations every 20mins They basically kept me going til 36wk dead on then wheeled me down for a c section so my son wasn't prem but it was pretty touch and go if I was gna make it to the 36wk mark you could tell everyone was pretty worried about me I stayed in for 5 days afterwards, refused to have the catheter out until day 4 because I didn't want to walk and get sent home until I knew I was ready to be left alone. This pregnancy I'm currently 35wks and scheduled for a c section next weds but I've done much better and a lot more mobile than last time round

Once you hit hdu the care level is totally different to being on the ward as there is actual medical professionals about to prescribe regular pain relief and be there for u. On the ward it's understaffed as they're all being called to hdu or emergency to help out

I had it with both of mine! You can message me if you would like

I was induced due to pre eclampsia! Right at 37 weeks as well! It wasn’t terrible! Just know that it’s your experience and if you decide to go medicated or non medicated that totally up to you! I will say advocate to feed that baby as soon as possible! Due the the pre eclampsia they did more tests and he got so lethargic they had to force feed him sugar water to get him to even wake up. My adrenaline was all gone by that point and I couldn’t make myself care (Postpartum depression). I think my postpartum wouldn’t have been as mentally draining if I would have fed him sooner. I felt like my body was grieving the loss of my baby while I had him in my arms. Weirdest feeling ever. Just feed that baby asap! Don’t be afraid to put off hearing or vision tests until after babe has been fed as it won’t affect the test results but it will affect your mood and baby’s health!

Induced at 37wks with all 3 of mine, because of pre-eclampsia and type 2 diabetes! All 3 inductions were good for me. I had my 3rd baby natural and it was even better. I've had the meds with first, membrane sweep with #2 and meds with #3 (induction meds) . Just get up and walk if you can, it help! Good luck ❣️
