i toilet trained my little boy 2 months ago now let him run round without a nappy showed him the toilet how to get up etc showed him the toilet flushing which he was very excited about 😂 keep saying to them do you need a wee as they don’t really think about it yet, every 20 mins or so i’d ask, puppy pads are a lifesaver put them on your sofa on the floor just incase of accidents, after my boy got the hang of the toilet i put him in pants and we had a few accidents but he soon realised he didn’t like the wet feeling… i also had a couple pairs of training pants for if we nipped out they have a little bit of padding in them

@Charlotte thank you for replying! It’s quite stressful I must say 🤔did you take away nappies during the day when you started? X

@Kynsie it is very stressful and i had absolutely no clue on what i was doing haha, yes so i took away all nappies from the minute we got up to the minute he went to bed, encourage first thing in the morning if he needed the toilet obvs throughout the days and right before bed. id say it took us about 9/10 days to stop having accidents whilst wearing pants! x

When they pee somewhere that isn't the potty say "pee doesn't go (on the floor), pee goes in the potty" have them clean it up Also best advice I ever received was to have wine on hand for yourself. Have everyone who looks after your child regularly on board with what you're doing

@Ellie ok thank you so much, oh Ellie I do wish I could have a wine but I’m 7 months pregnant so my stress is heightened, it’s our first day today, he did 5 wee wees in his potty so not bad going, although he did wee through his clothes when I was in Asda earlier on, slightly embarrassed but it’s childen I suppose x

@Kynsie babe all kids have to learn to use the toilet it’s part of growing up, i know it can be embarrassing but honestly nobody care half as much as you think, i deffo suggest some training pants as they just have that little bit more protection for them!! or until you’re sure you could even put a nappy over his pants so that he still gets the wet feeling if you know what i mean x

A travel potty? And definitely don’t stay indoors, get them out and about so they learn to use a travel potty or the toilets in the shops/soft play you’re in. Introducing pants can be confusing at first for them. My girl has had 2 proper accidents, one at nursery and 1 in the middle of an aisle in Tesco lol. Always have spare clothes and keep them hydrated! My daughter stopped drinking as much when we first started so she didn’t wee as much. Good luck! It’s so much easier having just 1 in nappies and you’ve got the right idea doing it before LO comes along 🤭

@Kynsie in that situation just say "it's an accident, they happen, you are still learning, next time tell mama and she'll help you get to the potty." If you say it's ok, then it's allowing them to go somewhere that isn't a potty. This is the hardest tip I've heard for potty training. Ive caught myself so many times. I've also read not to do errands the first few days of potty training. And to start with short walks. And congratulations on your growing family!

@Charlotte that is actually such a good idea!! Putting a nappy over pants!!! Thank you!!!!
