Sweep

Hi everyone . I had a sweep today at 39 weeks. My cervix is still quite far back.. all closed, But she gave it a good sweep. I know it’s only a 50% chance. Just wanting to hear some positive sweep stories.. The word INDUCTION was used STRAIGHT away in the appointment and I do not want to be induced, I was induced with mg first baby. So yeah going to do my best to avoid that!

I'm on my first baby so can't offer positive sweep stories, but absolutely if you don't want an induction stand your ground and ask for the other options. Good luck!

I'm 39 weeks and had a sweep yesterday but was already 2cm, will let you know if anything happens 🤣 I'm being induced on Edd so hoping it gets him shifting 🙌

I had a sweep (though I was already 2cm dilated with irregular tightenings) and it helped me to dilate and trigger more regular contractions and my baby was born 10 hours later.

Did she book more sweeps? With my first I had 3 sweeps each 2/3 days apart in week 38. Waters broke 2am after my 3rd one, gave birth at 4pm on induction day and didn't need any induction. I've got sweeps booked again starting at 38 weeks as due induction at 39 again. Also have sex if you can, midwife told me to at 3rd sweep and I did so think it helped.

I had the exact same, 0 dilated / closed and went into labour that night .. I was 41+4 tho! Don’t know if it was coincidence x

Thank you everyone for advice. I’ve got another sweep booked in on Monday. But I may just cancel and have it at 40 weeks, then at 41 weeks. Do exactly 1 week apart between them and see what happens 🤞 I’ve declined induction for now, and will reassess in a couple of weeks 😘
