Is this normal Behaviour?

My 18 month old has meltdowns/tantrums for the slightest reason, usually when I say no to something or take something from him. He throws his head back and kicks his legs out. It’s very embarrassing and to be honest I don’t Know how to deal with it. I’m a FTM. Has he got behavioural problems or is this normal from a toddler? I feel that my childminder judges me when he has a tantrum. She says “oh I don’t really see that here” which makes me feel rubbish. She did say today that he had a tantrum because kids were sitting listening to music and he didn’t want t to. She said he was frustrated. Posted anonymously as I’m embarrassed. I just don’t know 🤷‍♀️

Very normal toddler behaviour! They've got a lot of emotions and they don't know how to express them.

Yes, my toddler is the same age and we are also experiencing tantrums. He had a meltdown at the playground yesterday when he wasn't allowed to play with another child's sand toys 🤦

I’d definitely recommend reading a book about toddler behaviour to put your mind at rest 😊 I just read one called ToddlerCalm which was helpful

Also your kid will ALWAYS act worse at home with you than with someone else! So don’t take that personally. But yeah sounds pretty typical behaviour to me

Definitely normal!

My 1 year old does the exact same thing, he’s literally JUST turned one and is doing it already. Throwing himself back and stretching his body out going stiff, then frailing around angrily 😅 he only behaves like this around me, little monkey!!

@Karly thank you 🙏 I wonder why they act differently at home. The childminder quite often says “ooo he doesn’t do that at ours” which really annoys me 🤦‍♀️

@Sophie thank you, can you get this off Amazon?

I got my copy as a hand-me-down but I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t on Amazon!

Just ignore ur childminder Ur kid acts out at home cuz they feel safe and they can be themselves with you. They don’t have to wear a mask. Take it as a compliment , :)
