I also want to know this😂 I’m in the same situation with my 15 month old daughter xx
@Kas it was around 8 weeks I think, he started showing hunger cues then would fall asleep after 1oz on the bottle. He also started fighting sleep so that’s when we introduced it
Also following for tips . I try to limit usage during the day and baby doesn’t rely on it to fall asleep at night but it comforts him a lot during the day if he feels tired and resisting a nap . 7 month old so don’t mind him using it now but don’t really want to be using it when he’s much past 2!
Cold turkey, totally got rid of them from the house so I wouldn't give in. 1st night she cried at bedtime for 15mins asking for dummy but then announced I'm tired and turned over and went to sleep. 2nd night asked for it several times and then that was it, never aksed for it again. Honestly i was dreading it as she had the dummy quite a lot
I was going to try making a small hole in the dummy with a pin, apparently this makes it unsatisfying to suck and eventually they lose interest in it. My SIL told her 2yo that she could swap her dummies for the toy she really wanted - I think they tied them to a balloon and let go into the sky. I don’t approve of this, but watching them go into the sky created a lasting impression on her toddler and she never asked for it again
My son is 3 and for the past year, he has only had his for night time but I really didn’t want him to have it anymore so I said to him that we could bury it in the garden and the fairy would come get it because he’s a big boy and leave him a big boy prezzie. We spoke about it for a week or so and he eventually said that he wanted the fairy to leave him a toolbox if he gave his dummy up so that’s what we done. First night went amazing, didn’t ask for it once because he was so busy playing with his toolbox. He has asked for it a few times but overall it’s been fine. He’s going to sleep fine within it. xx
Around 2.5 is when we started getting rid of them. My daughter was starting to bite through the nipples and I didn’t want her to choke on them in her sleep. She had 4 left. She absolutely loves SuperKitties so I bought the 4 plush kitties. When a pacifier had a hole I told her it had to go away but she would get a toy in return. When her 3rd pacifier broke she gave me the 2 she had left and wanted the last two SuperKitties. It was easy and hardly any tears! She was rid of them by 2y10m
When I did it with my 3 year old we stopped giving it for nighttime first as often sleepy after bath and bottle but struggled during the day as more alert when going for naps one day we said shall we put them in the bin you don't need them he happily threw them in the bin loved making a noise with them and only asked for them once again. He's never had teddies or a comforter until he was around 2 1/2 when we moved him to full sized bed so he doesn't feel so small in it. He's now 3 1/2.
I'll be following your post for tips 😂 as my first one had it for sleep only until was 3. The second one seems to enjoy it even more but is done with the milk bottle 😅
