Pitocin

Hi ladies, I’m 4 days past my due date so we are planning for induction. Any of you have experience with induction by pitocin? Just want to know what I should be expecting…more than anything if it’s painful 😭

GET THE EPIDURAL (if it doesn’t affect health of you or LO) . When those contractions hit you , they HIT. i had to get Cytocen to soften & dilate my cervix , then Pitocen to get induced and that was NOT a fun time. The horror stories of the pain were true , but also expect shakes/chills and nausea. Iust make sure you have a calm and supportive environment surrounding you because that makes all the difference when you’re experiencing labor. However, all the pain is well worth it in the end when you meet you little love , so don’t be scared. Your body knows what to do when it’s time to do it!

I had it with both. The first one i had Ballon done so I was 4cm dilated before going in. They went from zero to 100 and I got epidural and everything was great. I took a nap and was fresh to push and spend time with baby. The second time I just did Tuesday. I was 5 cm for like 5 days and dr did a membrane sweep, nothing, broke my water, no active labor. Started me on pitocin and took a nap. Felt a contraction so got epidural and about 45 min later I push out baby girl with 3 pushes

Counter pressure from my husband made a huge difference in being able to handle the contractions

I have had two inductions done and both times I was fine and handling the frequency of the contractions well UNTIL my water was broken and they went from uncomfortable to very painful in literal seconds. I definitely recommend getting the epidural if you feel pain before your water is broken because it will only get worse.

We used pitocin, and I got my epidural like the same time as my potocin. 👍

my water broke naturally before i got pitocin with both my boys. i also got an epidural then was given pitocin right afterwards, the first time i noticed nothing, slept in between cervical checks til it was time to push. the second time tho (a week ago) i went in on an empty stomach which made the nausea so much worse, nurses said the nausea was due to epidural lowering blood pressure so they gave me nausea medicine, and something to bring my blood pressure back up, i didn't start pushing for like 9-10 more hours tho, for that whole time i was super nauseated, i had the shakes super bad, i wasn't allowed to drink water but i did minimally anyways to help keep nausea at bay. in the end it was worth it, i shouldn't have waited so long to get the pitocin bc my water had been broken so long i ended up getting a 101 fever and having to push thru that, honestly anything to not feel the pain of contractions and baby coming out tho lol

I was wanting a natural birth but after going a week over due date I was induced with the balloon It fell out rather quickly so I thought things would go smoothly but I ended up needing epidural and c section bc I wasn’t dilating quickly enough and baby’s heart rate was dropping Not the ideal birth I had planned but honestly now holding my new baby in my arms all the pain and torture is forgotten

Thank you ladies for sharing your experiences!! I really appreciate it 🫶🏻🩷 Im hoping she comes before my induction date 🙏🏻 but if not, I feel better about knowing what I’m going into 🥲

i had it with both my kids. 1st i was passed my due date went it and they started it, went pretty fast, contractions HURT but with the epidural it was pretty easy! now my 2nd i went in when my water broke and i wasn’t progressing so they started me on pitocin, they uped it every 15 mins instead of 30 really rushing it and it stressed my baby, but they stopped it and he was fine! it was definitely scary the 2nd time! BUT GET THE EPIDURAL, i was up to 20 and didn’t progress then i got it and had him within 3 hrs since my body was more relaxed!

@Destiny thanks girl! After reading everyone’s experiences I’m DEFINITELY GETTING THE EPIDURAL 👍🏻

@Briana 100% recommend. now i will say getting it SUCKS!!!!! i just held a pillow and told myself to take that shit 🤣 so just be prepared because you can’t move during it, have to keep your back arched. but once it’s done it’s so nice 😭
