We are at more the 10 minute mark here too! My midwife said it's absolutely fine as long as having wet/dirty nappies regularly🥰 x
Same same
They become more effective feeders and so their feeds do become quicker! Essentially it’s the ‘practice makes perfect’ theory and the nursing times shorten as they’re able to get more milk in a smaller amount of time. As long as her nappies remain normal it’s not a problem how long she feeds for
My baby went from 20-50 min feeds to 10-20 min feeds in the past week but I noticed my supply is now established and baby has become a pro at getting it out :) (7weeks)
This is all very reassuring, she is having plenty of wet and dirty nappies, literally every time I change her which is ever 2-3 hours, there’s always a little prezzie in her nappy 😂 thanks girls x x x
I got a session with a lactation consultant due to latch and amount concerns and she said if there are a good number of wet diapers and the poo is yellow and soft - you’re good!
Just a note to add. Today I won't make 8 feeds UNLESS baby decides to do 2 in the next 3hrs. So seems like only 7. Had a midwife visit today and weight check and baby is already 200 grams above birth weight at 10 days ☺️🙌🏼🙌🏼 So doesn't matter she feeds for short time and sometimes goes 4-5hrs without showing any signs of hunger. Every baby is different. I feed her when she shows hunger cues or if no cues and sleeps for 4hrs then I offer breast.
Thanks so much for adding that on @Gabi ! Every day is different for sure, some days she will feed way more than 8 times and other days she will feed less 🫣
Same here Dana! My baby usually drinks for 10mins. Rarely over that for 15 or 20. Sometimes 6-8mins and it worries me. But midwife said as long as she got plenty wet and dirty nappies she's good. Every baby is different.
