Sleep issues and advice

Hi all, I’m just wondering how people are finding their little ones sleep patterns, especially at night time? My little boy is 11 weeks today, 4 weeks corrected and just will not sleep at night unless he’s held. I’m lucky if he goes down for 30 minutes at night and he will maybe do this 2-3 times the whole night if I’m lucky. He has suffered with reflux and colic so we give him infacol and baby gaviscon which has helped slightly but he’s still slightly uncomfortable at times, and now the gaviscon is making him constipated. Hes exclusively breastfed and now I’m expressing so my partner can give him a bottle at night and morning just so I can get an hour or two sleep. I’ve got a GP review tomorrow, but I wondered if anyone had similar experiences with their prem babies, I guess I just want some reassurance that I’m not completely failing!

Firstly your not failing !!! Baby is just adapting to this new life away from all the noise, it maybe to quite for him my son is nearly 3, he was born 24wks.... he's never slept through the night. 🤪 Do you use White noise? In hospital my son was initially given sma he had bad reflux etc so the dietician put him onto aptimal pepti junior- which worked amazing for him its only on perscription thou, so perhaps mention to your GP 2moro? To try it out and see how you go? What does he sleep in? Our son hated the moses soo he went straight into a cot , on discharge the nurse even suggested the pram carry cot as it's stable and doesn't move as much like a loses wiggles a little bit doesn't it when they move, Also i know its not recognised safe however he only ever enjoyed sleeping on his front.... which he became used to in the nicu - So my partner would do the night shift vice versa. Preemie life is hard and we always judge ourselves, you've overcome the hardest thing in your life x

Hi, my little boy was 6 weeks early and after a couple of weeks of being home was exactly the same. I think it is completely normal, they are still so new to the world. It won't last forever! I think we went through about a month of it. I kept trying to put him down and eventually the stretches got longer and longer. A swaddle definitely helped. I hope you have plenty of help and support around you x

We had this exact same experience too! You're not alone ❤️
