Waking up baby

Ok maybe I just have a weird baby or she has different sleep needs but she is 4 mo and we are currently in this phase where we wake up at 8am but often she’s still asleep, like I have to wake her up. It’s recommended for sleep training to stay on a pretty consistent wake schedule (this is not a discussion for sleep training) but I guess I just wanted to know if there are any other moms out there who have to actually wake their children up or do you just let them sleep as long as they want?? Doesn’t it mess with the whole days schedule if they do?

It’s highly recommended to let them sleep and wake up theirselves. So we’ve always done that. My baby (5 months on Saturday) does this and he’s always sleep before us and awake after us. But babies are suppose to sleep most of the day, I believe 16-18 hours (including the naps) at 4 months

I let my boy wake up when he wants/is ready to. It's usually around 8am and I wake up with him 🙂 the only time I'd wake him up is if he was having a really long nap that would interfere with bedtime

A baby sleep schedule isn’t our schedule I let my baby sleep whenever and he stayed on schedule still until lately he just stopped sleeping through the night due to teething

We have always woken, not just for routine (more so if you’ve other kids to corral to some form of childcare) but to ensure they’ve aligned themselves to their circadian rhythm. It’s not just generic sleep training advice but from scientific studies (BASIS/Possums). Of course if your family routine starts and ends at different times go for it! Truthfully I’d much prefer the lie in 😅

@Madeleine I’m a sahm so I could just let her sleep if I wanted but like you said there’s good backed advice for waking them within a certain timeframe. Of course I’d love to be able to sleep in lol but I also don’t want our schedule to be all crazy the next few days if she sleeps way longer than I anticipated
