Vaccine

How does everyone feel about having the RSV vaccination? I’m 50/50 on it 🤔

Me too, people mention it's been in other countries for years, but it still makes me feel nervous.

I’ll be having it, I’ve seen first hand devastation from family/friends babies having RSV and needing hospital treatment. There’s a lot of research available online, or your midwife /gp can advise further too x

I did my research & felt risk is higher with vaccine- phase 3 trial of a maternal vaccine candidate for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) has been stopped early because the risk for preterm births is higher in the candidate vaccine group than in the placebo group.13 Mar 2024: https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/risk-preterm-birth-stops-maternal-rsv-vaccine-trial-2024a10004rk?form=fpf

@Sabzx this is a very misleading article as it’s based on a trail for a new brand of RSV vaccine, which as subsequently been pulled. The only approved vaccine is Pfizer and has been proven to be safe and effective. It’s obviously a personal preference but having seen my friend’s baby be ventilated due to the RSV twice last winter I’m putting my faith in the NHS’s recommendations

I will be getting mine - only from 28 weeks onwards though as recommended (my doctor offered them out earlier, but it’s not recommended). I think it’s worth it as it can be devastating and life threatening if contracted as a newborn.

Personally for me my baby comes first and if this vaccine is going to reduce the chance of the devastation that could come from her getting rsv then I’m 100% going to do it. All vaccines go through soo much testing before the public get given it. Our little ones are unprotected from birth until 8weeks when they get their jabs, this jab will keep them protected between birth and 8 weeks. This goes the same for whooping cough , the proof in in the amount of cases that have been reported and the unfortunate deaths since people have stopped getting the jabs. *this is my own personal opinion and no judgement to any other parents out there
