Birth experience Mt Sinai West
Hi ladies,
I’m looking for anyone that would be willing to share their birth experience at Mt Sinai West, especially unmedicated births. That’s where we plan on going. I really love my OB, but since they’re on rotation I don’t know who in her group will actually be the one there for delivery. Everyone who knows her seems to love her too which gives me some confidence.
I’ve been to L&D a couple times during this pregnancy to have some things checked out. The triage staff were all amazing. I was accidentally wheeled through the delivery side so I’ve at least had a glimpse of it. I think I’ve built up this idea of a fight to have the birth I want and I’m hoping to assuage my anxiety a little.
Pros and cons?! I want the wonderful, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I had a C section at Mt Sinai and an unmedicated birth (VBAC) in Brooklyn. All hospitals push C Sections and medication. It's how they make money. Unmedicated births lose the hospital money. Just make sure that your partner or whoever is with you is advocating for you and knows your birth plan, because during labor you may fall for the doctor's suggestions. I almost took medication for my 2nd, but my partner reminded me of everything I said to him beforehand and advocated for me, made the hospital staff stop asking me about medications and I delivered quickly, successfully and unmedicated. My doctor was actually on rotation when I gave birth, so I was lucky. But I had my birth plan printed, in a folder, so any doctor would've know the details!
