We checked and our sleeping bags are not suitable under 8lbs8oz. Our son is not liking being swaddled so I have just bought a 2.5 tog sleep suit from next. They have first size and new born (we have gone straight for 0-3 as he's over 8lbs)
@Claire i just looked on next and their bag sizing is in height rather than newborn/first size/weight. Very confusing!
On next search 2.5 tog sleepsuit (not the bags)
We used the Tommee tippee gro bags last time and will again this time. The smallest size is fine from 7lb. Our last was 7lb 2 and fine in them - they come up pretty small.
I swaddled my daughter but have brought a love to dream swaddle up bag for baby boy. My daughter slept a lot better once she went into a sleeping bag so planning to start baby off in one 😊 I brought size small as its from 8lbs
I’m doing tucked in cellular blankets this time, I did swaddle with cellular blankets last time but choosing not to this time, then when they’re at the weight I’ll go into sleeping bags xx
i used tucked in cellular blanket for first 12 days now i’ve moved onto the love to dream swaddle and she’s slept through the night since (only waking for a quick feed) the swaddle is only thin so i do still tuck the cellular blanket over the bottom half of her just to feel cosy as i don’t want her getting cold in the night
I’m personally just planning to use cellular blankets to start with, until a sleeping bag fits. On my antenatal course (which was run by an nhs midwife) she said swaddling in a cellular blanket is also fine, but you have to be sure about your technique so it doesn’t end up coming undone in the night. I think the lullaby trust have sleep safe guidelines on this if it helps :)
