Hey so I would eat so diverse as possible, lots of vegetables, fruits and nuts. Protein is definitely good but it doesn’t always need to be animal protein. Moringa per example has a lot of protein and a lot of other benefits as well. I count my vegetables and fruits I’m eating a week, you should eat 20 to 30 different types a week. Not to much starch/carbs and sugar my midwife said, that’s not healthy for you and your baby. Congratulations hope you have a great pregnancy:)
Check out the book “real food for pregnancy” And beef liver capsules are good to supplement with for a gentle nutrition boost
The biggest thing that helped me eat healthy in my pregnancy was that it was so much more noticeable when I put unhealthy foods in my body. My body rejected processed foods, and I just felt better being pregnant when I ate simple, whole foods. My staples were apples and peanut butter, eggs wih avocado and toast for breakfast, chicken salads… but also tacos, burritos, soups, granola + yogurt and chocolate chip cookies, cuz I gotta live a little too :)
Focus on protein. And if you do eat carbs or sugar, try to combine it with fats- for example, if you’re having pancakes put ghee on them; toast with avocado; etc.
