If you’re being induced, do you mind sharing the reason?

Is it elective or for medical necessity? Zero judgment here. 🫶🏻 I was offered a 39 week elective induction and am really on the fence about it.

I’m choosing to be induced for multiple reasons. 1 I’m due Christmas Eve and don’t want to spend Christmas in the hospital. 2 we’ve hit the out of pocket max with our insurance so we shouldn’t have a hospital bill if he’s here by the end of the year. 3 I’m just ready to be done, so the sooner the better!

i am electing to schedule the 39 week induction because honestly i truly can’t handle being pregnant anymore my body is literally in so much pain and im still working. if my baby decides to come early that’s great but if not he’s scheduled to be induced at 39 and 5 days. the hospital im delivering at has a lot of babies being born in december and they said if i go to the 40 week mark they can’t guarantee ill get induced until probably the 41st week close to the 42nd week due to availability and i just wont let myself be pregnant for that much longer.

I am also on the fence! I have very low platelet count- and if they drop below 80, then I can’t have an epidural or spinal block, if I ended up needing a c section would have to be put under. One doctor at the practice is a wait and see vibe, another one said it’s reasonable to induce if they drop below 100, because it could be a sign of something else going on. They were 103 last Monday. I don’t know whether I should ask to be induced or not- I’ll be 39 weeks tomorrow and my next appointment is Monday. I’m also over being pregnant but i just have this feeling that I’m not dilated at all, and have heard some negative stories about inductions. I don’t knooooooowwwww

I originally wanted to go naturally in labor. My due date is 12/22. Baby is measuring 6.5 lbs at 36 week growth scan. So there are no issues with her being underweight for induction. Since pretty much week 33-34 i have been super miserable as the baby is pinching my femoral nerve and i am very immobile. Moving and activity is part of my DNA and i just cant sit on my butt all day long or lay in bed. This makes me super depressed. Plus i am 40 and doctors prefer to induce u at 39 weeks (12/15) vs waiting until 40 for geriatric pregnancies. Another reason is i dont want to spend Xmas eve at the hospital. In addition, i have an 11 yo who will then have to be home by herself for this holiday, since they dont allow kids under 14 from nov to march. And overall i just hope that having a no-stress check in at the hospital and not being sent home should be a great experience. The rest is up to God’s willing 🙏 I have not had an induction with my first. So nothing to compare it to.

I chose to get induced with my second pregnancy 2 days b4 my due date bc I was in so much pain and severely uncomfortable. My son was born 9lbs, that's probably why. The worst part was getting patocin after I delivered to bring in contractions to fet my uterus back to where it was supposed to be. My epidural had worn out, and that got painful, still having contractions. Other than that, it went smoothly. Best of luck to you and your baby!

I’m fucking over being pregnant. I’m not doing a full induction just a membrane sweep at 39 weeks on Monday. This pregnancy took a major toll on my body and I’m constantly in pain and can bare walk

Ending up with a scheduled C-section but we were strongly considering an induction so sharing our reasoning. For us, we have a toddler so it's a combo of being able to plan ahead for his care and medical. Scheduling allowed our in-laws to schedule PTO and substitute teachers. Medical: I just turned 40 and they want baby out close to 39 weeks as the placementa is more likely to fail/degrade after 40. Between those two we were going for an induction. But my chances of a successful Vbac with an induction were low so we are going for a scheduled C-section instead.

I have to get induced Sunday night because of GD and insulin

I’m due 12/12 but have an induction scheduled for the 16th if he hasn’t come by then. I was offered to do it sooner but just with all the research I personally did I feel more comfortable waiting to see if baby will come naturally

I got induced with my first. Initially was voluntary but turned medically necessary due to blood pressure at my 39 week appointment. I was considered geriatric and had an IVF pregnancy. I was on weekly monitoring to check baby and placenta. I felt like we were sitting and waiting for something to go wrong. My anxiety was through the roof. He was also measuring in the 99th percentile so I was anxious about delivering vaginally should he continue to grow, he was 10lbs 4oz at birth. He was too big to come out so I went in for a c-section after 34 hrs of labor and 2 hrs of pushing. This pregnancy was a scheduled c-section at 37weeks 4 days due to gestational hypertension. I couldn’t be induced due to previous c-section.

@Kijahne same feeling. 0 excitement and lovey emotions. Just pain and exhaustion

We were planning for an elective induction at 39 weeks. But as of currently, we have a scheduled c section for 39 weeks. We found out she’s currently breech, so we shifted for c section. With that said if she ends up flipping by the time they prep me for c section, we will be shifting back to being induced. Anyway we decided on elective induction for various reasons. -I’m genuinely just over being pregnant. -I’m not due until the 17th, and really wanted to stay away from Christmas as much as possible. -my husband will end up getting 2 additional weeks of parental leave if we have her before the 16th. -having the ability to have my mother in law in town and staying with us to help us get routines/me heal up was much more ideal at the 39 week mark vs who knows when. -we have some high chances of baby girl having dwarfism, and if that ends up being the case her large head measurements will be true and I’m not looking forward to giving her 2-3 weeks to keep growing that thing.

I’m due 12/18 but being induced 12/4 (38 weeks). My OB never pushed for induction despite me being geriatric and plus size. I’ve had a healthy pregnancy for the most part. I asked about one final growth scan (which apparently he wasn’t going to do) and good thing I did. Baby was measuring 4 weeks ahead, ended up getting diagnosed with GD late despite passing my 3 hr weeks before, and also developed polyhydramnios. I also am inducing so daddy can be here. He’s an OTR truck driver so not exactly easy to just be home. And he’ll be running between the hospital and home because our 15 y/o will be with our 16 m/o. And before anyone thinks I’m nuts about that part, we are literally 3 miles from the hospital lol.

@Lola I’ve been having similar feelings regarding the research on the risks associated with induction. I’m also concerned about going beyond 40 weeks though as that carries its own risks. Such a tough decision. 🫠

@Haley I have all the same feelings, that’s why I don’t want to go to far past my due date. But also hoping baby boy will come on his own early
