registering my baby

i need to book an appointment to register my baby, me and baby’s dad are together (not married) but as he’s back to work now he can’t get time off, can i register the baby on my own and be able to put fathers name down or does he have to be present for him to be able to be on the certificate??

I think he has to be there to sign, not 100% sure tho but we registered our baby last week and it felt quite formal 😂

Think he has to be there if your not married

I’m married but I registered baby without dad being there. It is quite formal and not sure if being married makes a difference 🤷‍♀️

I think he has to be there if your not married

Me and my partner both had to be there as not married.

We were able to register over the phone so they just needed to speak to both of us after we emailed the details over. Oh also - I think there is an option to get him to fill in a form giving you permission to register his details on the birth cert in his absence (and vice versa) but he still needs to go there to get/ complete the form.

If not married the father has to be present at the registration

He has to sign the register x

No he has to be there

Yeah he has to be there to sign. Can he get a couple of hours just to come along? It only takes about 30 minutes max. My partner and I are not married and it was a requirement for him to be there.

If married, you can register on your own. If not, you both need to be there to put his name on x
