Breech baby

Hoping for some reassurance please. I'm 36+3 weeks and midwife thinks baby might be breech now although they've thought he was head down for weeks until now. I'm waiting for a scan to confirm. She's said my options will likely include ECV and/or C section if he is. Now I'm worried it's a bit late to arrange elective C section and I'm due Christmas week so imagine availability could be more scarce. Anyone with similar experience who can offer thoughts or reassurance? I'm hoping I'm just overthinking and either he's actually not breech or I have plenty of time.

Same happened to me. I went in on Tuesday (26th) for a growth scan as midwife said baby was measuring too big. Turns out she’s measuring fine but she’s breech, even though we thought she was head down and engaged! I’ve chosen an elective c-section, as personally I didn’t feel an ECV was right for baby or me. I’m booked for a pre op this coming Tuesday and the c-section is on Thursday. They like to do elective c-sections at 39 weeks. Don’t stress, it will be fine and there’s still time to get everything booked in. Wishing you all the best and hope everything goes well for you x

@Jemma Thanks so much, and all the best for Thursday! ❤️

I had a ecv with my first at 37 weeks plus so many days. It worked! Then this baby was breech until 36 weeks too but turned by herself. I looked at spinning babies, walked lots and put a hot water bottle to the lower part of my tummy! Something worked!! Good luck. ECV wasn’t painful but uncomfortable xx

I also had my baby turn at the last trimester even though she was always head down! ECV was attempted at 40 weeks and luckily she turned very quickly x

Mine turned itself around 37 weeks

Hi lovely, please don’t worry ! Baby was breech at 36 weeks and I was offered ecv but I turned it down. Options are that you can give birth if breech( at least my consultant told me) So I opted for emergency c section, if it came to it. If baby turns around ( would be a miracle ) and labour starts naturally I will try vaginal birth. I have my appointment for c section, I will be 39 weeks then xx

Hi my baby is breech as well. Attempted the ecv just before 37 weeks which didn’t work but I got a date that day for my section just before my due date. Don’t worry either way if you’re wanting to have one they will have to make time for the appointment for you they can’t turn you down just because it’s Christmas week xx

I went in at 38 weeks for an ecv and it didn't work so I scheduled a c section there and then. I opted to have it at 40 weeks just cos it felt right to give her chance to turn still but they can schedule you in quite quick if they need to, will like be early if you're due around Christmas x

Look up pregnancy and post partum tv on YouTube there’s a video on flipping babies x

This was me at 36 weeks, where I turned down an ECV due to hearing several unsuccessful stories. I decided to go down the elective section route (baby had other ideas and my waters went 5 days before!) so ended up having an emergency section as my hospital don’t offer vaginal breech births. My recovery has been very smooth sailing and I have no regrets in how my baby was born ❤️
