Being induced - positive stories please!

41 + 4 and now being induced today. I had put it off since I wanted a spontaneous birth but hospital procedure is to book inductions for 41 + 4, so here we are. Had a sweep at 41 weeks, lost a lot of the mucus plug but no contractions and waters not broken. Has anyone got positive stories from their induction? Hospital say they’ll use a pessary to begin with, then move on to the drip with synthetic oxytocin before breaking waters. What pain killers did you have during your induction? What are your recommendations? Thank you ❤️

I was induced on my baby’s due date at 3pm waters broke on there on the next morning at 5:30am and baby was born at 11:18am paracetamol worked up till my waters broke

@Lydia What method of induction did you have to get things started?

Pessary was all I needed and I wasn’t even dialated when I went in for it

I was induced at 41+5, sweeps didn’t work for me either! Had the pessary, that didn’t work but then had the gel and baby was here within 6 hours!

I was induced with pessary and had quick labour of 2 and half hours including the pushing stage.

I had the pessary fitted and 14 hours later my girl was born. I was not dilated at all prior to having it fitted. It happened pretty quickly once things got going. I was only in active labour for just over an hour, including pushing. I was super worried because people told me the contractions were more intense with an induction but I didn’t find this. Best of luck, you got this! 🩷

I was induced at 38+6. I got the pessary at 11:30pm on Sunday night then went to labour ward for the hormone drip at 5:30am on the Monday. I took the epidural and gas and air, I had a great labour. I started reacting to the hormone almost immediately and because of the pain meds, I didn’t feel any pain, it was more uncomfortable like mild period cramps. I was taking a while to dilate and baby was back to back so I lay on my side with the peanut ball for a couple hours and that got things moving. My baby was born at 00:33 on the Tuesday morning. I did end up getting an episiotomy at the very very last minute but again, I hardly felt it and I have healed great with no complications. My stitches haven’t bothered me once either. Good luck! ❤️

Waters breaking before the drip might be a better way round? I only had my waters broken and I started contracting 3 in 10 straight away then 4 in 10 within 2 hours. No need for the drip!

Just because it’s hospital procedure doesn’t mean you have to do it yet! I was so sure on my labour starting spontaneous but it didn’t, I went for induction at 41 + 6 and had him at 42 weeks, I had pessary which failed then waters broken which didn’t do anything so ended up on the hormone drip. I laboured on gas and air and had diamorphine towards the end, pushed him out no problems and no tearing 😬 good luck with yours!
