@Ruth yea I was also thinking I could maybe modify it a bit to add some red. It feels so stupid to spend the money when I have a perfectly good one there but also having major mum guilt over it x
Honestly don't stress. He will be happy. :) xx
Maybe yu could tell him that santa couldn't get the red bike but as he has been understanding he can buy something else. And with the money that yu was going to buy the bike, maybe yu can get him something else that he likes.
Write a Christmas list together, or the letter to Santa. When it gets to the bike, if he specifies red again, then I would say “and what about if Santa runs out of red paint, what other colours might you like?” Or “and what if I can’t find a red bike in the shop?” (Depending on who is getting him the bike) and let him reel some off and write them down, you can also steer him towards including the colours on the other bike. We did something similar for the thing he asked Santa for, he asked for a black one but we knew that would be difficult, so when we did our letter to Santa we talked about it a bit more and now when he tells people what he’s asked for, he leaves out the colour entirely… phew! 😅
Oh, and absolutely take the free bike, and spend your money elsewhere. That’s a no brainer IMO. Especially if the money can be better spent elsewhere.
I’d take the free bike, and when he writes his letter to Santa, ask if Santa has run out of red bikes maybe a blue/green/white bike would be a good second option! Use the money you’ve saved to buy some red accessories helmet etc!
I would absolutely take the nice bike you are given. My son got his bike for his bd in July, and she had been firmly saying for months he wants a green bike. As you as we came to shop (I didn’t know the size so wanted him to try them), he started taking about a blue bike he saw!
paint it to red!
Tell him although santa does his best, sometimes he can't always get it right , but he's got you some red accessories for your new bike. (Red helmet, red bell etc) could work?? Xx
