feeding

I’m giving my baby breast milk out a bottle i’m only getting 120ml each pump. my lo is 5weeks and is drinking about 90ml so this is okay for the now but i’m just wondering that as she gets older will she drink more than the 120ml if so will her feeds become more spaced apart and if so will i need to pump every 3 hours still to be able to give her what she needs per feed

Your supply should increase the further along you go? She’s likely to still feed around 3 hours apart for a while! My LO is a week shy of 6 months and has only just started feeding every 4-5 hours. Your supply should start to regulate between 8-14 weeks so just keep pumping every 3 hours if that’s the schedule you have. If little one is only drinking 90 and you’re getting 120 you can always freeze the excess! That way you can top up feeds later on or use it for baths/weaning foods/etc x

@Francheska yeah i have got a freezer stash started as at the start i was getting 120ml each side then got mastitis and my supply dropped drastically and i have only been getting 60ml each side for 3 weeks now im on a strict pumping schedule but my supply doesn’t seem to be getting any better will it still increase as she gets older if i stick to my schedule

Make sure you’re doing skin to skin, drinking enough water and eating enough! I found carbs and protein helped. Oats were really good for me as well! I’ve never had mastitis so I can’t comment on how to help supply after but I did have a supply did around 7/8 weeks. I pumped every 2 hours for 3 weeks straight after that like a crazy woman. It wasn’t good lol I’d say if there’s issues with supppy after mastitis maybe check with gp? Or lactation consultant?

Also recheck your flange size/pump parts. Your nipple can change shake and size throughout your pumping journey!
