Partner going back to work

Hi all, my partner goes back to work Monday and I feel confident in most things just wondering how on earth I’ll do anything for myself! My baby loves a contact nap and I’ve been trying to put her down a bit in the day (tried various different places Purflo, chair, pram and she just wakes as soon as she’s put down. Any tips on how Velcro baby mama showers? 😂😭

Sling/ carrier are great... Not for shower lol but for rest of the day. Shower ... Could you shower before your partner goes to work? That's what I do

Which one do you recommend? I’ve tried the babybjorn and bizzi growin but I can’t get on with them, it feels like she’s not big enough for them yet and they stretch her legs too much! I think that’s a good idea, he leaves at about 6 so it will be an early start!

Had the koala babycare sling with my first and it was super easy to adjust, unfortunately it got lost in the move so bought a cheaper one this time https://amzn.eu/d/dTf1GYG takes a bit of getting used too but it fits my smaller size boy just fine (he's on the 9th percentile). As for showers mine seems to happily lay in the bathroom while i shower, think the sound soothes him.

Have you tried waiting 20 minutes before you put her down so she's in a deep sleep? Then put your hand on her chest until she settles before you move away, this works for me about half the time 😂 I have to take my baby out in the pram to drop my toddler to nursery so I make sure he's at the end of his wake window and he'll usually fall asleep in the pram. Then I put the pram in the study with white noise on and he'll usually stay asleep for a good couple hours til I wake him up. I put him in his pram suit with his arms down like a swaddle.

My girl sleeps so well in her next to me at night, but totally a velcro baby during the day. My new best friend is a stretchy wrap sling, it’s soo comfortable, she naps 3-4 times a day in it, usually for 2 hours.

I am a single mum and there are times in the day where I have to put him in his swing or cot and if he cries I just have to get on with the things I have to do, as long as you know your child is not hungry or wet, sometimes you have to let them cry

She has a tolerance limit in her chair or mat of about 3 minutes! I’ll give the Disney lullabies a go though, thanks!

I have a baby carrier and shower once my husband is home. I've also managed to work out 3 days a week before my husband goes to work. Eating can be a challenge but I try and go out as much as possible as he's more settled. I also limit myself to small household tasks a day.

You'll find your rhythm 🤍 my husbands been abroad for work for a week now and not back till Wednesday so I've been solo with baby and my 22 month old 🙈 showers I prefer to do before bed but sometimes if I'm lucky and they're both napping at the same time I'll grab one then. When it was just my daughter I used to pop her in the bath support or a bouncer just outside the shower and she was usually happy sat there whilst showered and could see her. If all else fails see if you can call on a friend or family member that can come round and hold little one so you can shower and reset x

Thanks for everyone’s tips and support! Here goes the first week of finding our feet 🥰

my partner goes back to work too, feel free to message me if you wish, we can help eachother 🤣 good luck!!! xxx

For me stretch wrap sling is my saviour all day naps are in there and I can make myself food/drink and get some things done albeit a bit slower and more cumbersome. Showers, I’ll admit some days they don’t happen or at least till my husband is back on a night but I’ve found if I bring him in and prop him on a boppy cushion on the floor he likes the sound and just watches me which keeps him quiet for 5 mins or so, enough for me to speed shower.
