I did the genetic blood testing through the hospital because my brother has a rare genetic condition and I wanted to know if my child was going to have it too, and it said I was having a girl, every anatomy scan confirmed it was a girl, and my daughter is almost 2. 💖 I also wanted to know her gender right away, so I was super happy my insurance covered it! TBH, I probably would have spent the $70 to find out too, even without the genetic condition. 🤷🏻♀️
I declined all blood testing outside of the normal lab check and waited until 20w scan. I don’t feel partial to “it was or wasn’t worth it,” it was fine. I enjoyed the suspense and my partner and I benefited from discussing what parenting would look like without knowing gender. The reveal was also a lot more exciting with the suspense buildup and us both having a “gut feeling” by that point. I will do the same thing for any future pregnancies.
We did NIPT testing (not solely to find out baby’s sex though) and it’s covered by my insurance, so you may want to check your coverage.
When I had my first appointment at 8 weeks they gave me labs to get done and one of them was the gender test. I didn’t have to pay for it or anything and I found out super early.
I am going to pay for nipt or sneak peak to find out the gender early this time too. My last one and after 3 boys I really want a girl. But I want to test early so if I have any disappointment over another boy I can get over it and enjoy the rest of the pregnancy. I’ve never done it before so it’s a first for me too.
NIPT? Yes and yes
Worth it. I did it at two pregnancies just to check the sex. 99.9% accuracy
Sneak Peak at 7 weeks followed by a private gender scan at 16 weeks worked for us👌🏻
Nipt or sneak peek. Nipt is definitely more accurate but I did both and they both said girl. Had my anatomy scan done at 18w2d and confirmed it was a little girl.
