🙊Back in the Days🙊

Did you wait till you were 21 to drink? . . . I started drinking way before I was 21. I want to say the first time I got drunk I was really young, like 14/15 young. 🥴🥴🥴 Which I do not recommend.

Legal age here is 18 but I’ve never meet anyone who waited till they were 18. Most of us 90s baby had a lager shandy as a summer family party treat as youngsters, or sneaked a Smirnoff ice as a tween 😂

My first drink was Gin... I was either 17 or it was my 18th bday. I thought it was water... I knew then i had a problem 🤣

@Sarah Smirnoff ice or a wkd blue 🤣

@Liv I feel privileged for my first drink to have been a white wine 😅 I must’ve only been 12/13 at the time

This question is funny to a Brit. I was having shandy’s at my Nannas from about 10, drinking WKD blue from about 12 and then at 15 we would all be drunk in a field whilst our parents all thought we were at each others houses. Then finally it’s legal at age 18.

I was drinking before I was 21. I don’t remember what age when it started but I also drank with family too. Smirnoff and Mike’s hard was my thang back then. I was drinking MD 20, Hennessy, Brandy (E&J), ect,. I’m a dark liquor type gal. Hate vodka, whiskey, tequila. Margarita and fruity drinks is my thing now.

Drank before I was 18, but not much. Still don’t really drink now.

@s a r a 🥀 we drank 40z ghetto shit like...king cobra, md 20/20, Boones farm, miller high life 😇 growing up inner city LA. When you're grown you start liking the finer things lol

@Lauren lol

Uk so was getting into pubs at 16 and then they introduced alcopops and it was then suddenly they had bouncers on every door. A close friend of mine got really drunk last day of school (don’t think the nuns were overly impressed!).

I can kinda argue that it was "supervised drinking with parents/guardians" which is legal but it wasn't followed perfectly. I had my first glass of wine when I was 17 and drank on occasion until I turned 21. But nothing crazy, always with my mom, or at a friend's house with their parents. My brother was actually wild, at 19 he was going to all these parties hosted by idiots. But he was lucky he didn't get involved in too much nonsense.

@Violeta💕 I started drinking 40z when I met my husband. I don’t drink beer either even though I have on some occasions but I prefer liquor more than anything. I’m now 26 and barely drink anymore. If it’s margaritas or fruity drinks, I’ll chug that down like water 🤣 Sadly, I can’t drink right now because I’m 37 weeks pregnant 😭

Besides little sips of wine from my aunt’s glasses as a kid I had my first actual drink at 16. Got a fake ID as soon as I went off to college at 18

I did not wait until 21 but I was 17, almost 18. I’ve also always been one to drink responsibly even when I was underage drinking lol. Not over-doing it, drinking in a safe space with my girlfriends looking out for each other, never drinking and driving. I also took responsibility, never acted crazy and blamed it on being drunk. I don’t come from a drinking family so I wasn’t drinking at an early age like some others were.

I was underage when I had my first drink. It was in a 'controlled environment' & that freedom gave me an opportunity to experiment safely. Safe to say that I didn't like being drunk & I've spent my entire adult life teetotal (pretty much)😅

@Sarah ahhh. ☺️

I’m Latina so we were taught from young 😂

@Rashida Boujee with the white wine lol

It's age 18 here, and I had my first drink when I was about 12. I was drinking in pubs at age 16

@Lisa shandy's?

@Violeta💕 a shandy is half larger, half lemonade

@Becky shandy is a wine cooler too, popular in Caribbean culture. But she probably meant the version you’re speaking of

@Becky oh okay.

I think my parents gave me beer at like 4 to try to make sure I didn't drink (I didn't like it then) but I started drinking at 15 and drank a lot from 15-18. I stopped drinking around 19/20 and haven't drank anything since

@Rashida 🤣🤣 god, that’s fancy!

I mean i had sips of my parents drinks from 16+ i think i had a shot for my sisters birthday when i was 19 but that’s it. 21+ after that and i still rarely drink at 23. Ive had maybe 15 alcoholic drinks since I turned 21, and most of them were seagrams etc. hard liquor maybe 5 of those times

I had my first drink at about 13/14 😂 but that was *mostly* in the house with family because they didn’t want me to go out drinking on the streets which I started doing at about 15/16. Legal age here is 18 tho lol

Started at 16 🤫 but now I don’t drink at all 😇

I had my first drink when I was 10 playing a game at the family cabin, then I was allowed a small drink on special occasions. When I was 13 though I hit a really rough spot with my family life and started drinking heavily. At 15 I went clean for 2 years before I trusted myself to have anything, and even then it was only with my now fiance so I didn't risk losing myself again. Now I'm breastfeeding so I only drink a hard soda on special occasions.

First drink was 13 and I was stealing bottles of vodka with my friends by the time I was 14 definitely not my proudest memories. 😬

@Rachel it sounds like it was managed pretty well. So your brother was a wild child... it's good it didn't get out of hand cuz we all know how that could go.

@Mariam there's an area over here called McArthur Park that is notorious for fake IDs, you could pay cash for one. They will have you becoming 'Josefina Maria de La Cruz age 45...lol

@Dana 🦅♥️🤍💙 that's good. It's a blessing to be responsible at a young age.

@Monét you can say that again.

I was 13 (18 is legal age in uk) oops

It’s 18 in the uk so I started at like 15

@Salem 13 is a tough age so many changes, you go from a child to a teen. I miss alcohol sometimes. But it's easy to get lost in it.

@Lorri🌱 Gurl. Please don't get me started on our beer runs 😩🥴

@Violeta💕 I agree fully. Honestly a lot of the teen years are so hard, with body changes, social circles, school, ect. I will admit there are times where I wish I could drink more but I'm still very wary about alcohol as I only went clean 4 years ago, and only started drinking minimally again 2 years ago.

15 I think. I would sneak my parents alcohol. I really don’t drink anymore. My biological father was an alcoholic so I try not drink anymore now that I have kids.

I would drink here and there from 15-17. After 17 I was definitely in my party phase.

I drank past 21, my friend told me I had to try a margarita. Was not a fan, gave it to her

It’s 18 in the uk!

@Sita I learned something new today 😋, like 10 people reiterated that on this thread. Lol

No because I’m from England, we get drunk on fields at 15 here 😆

I was like 17/18

I did actually 😂! And then I ordered something on my 21st to get carded, took one sip, and gave it to my friend! I've tried just a handful of drinks and realized the only ones I liked were the ones that tasted like juice, so I don't drink because I'm not spending all that money when what I really want is juice 😂 Edit to add: I've never been drunk or even tipsy (I've never actually finished a whole drink lol) I'm terrified of getting addicted. My dad's side of the family has a long history of being alcoholics and I can see that i have traits of an addictive personality (when I like something, I tend to get obsessed and fixated on it, even when it's totally healthy and good things).

@Grace wow congrats. you're the first person I hear that waited until they were 21.

☺️Thanks for sharing everyone☺️

I was drinking beer here and there before 21 years old
