MIL Reaction to Pregnancy Announcement

When we announced that we were expecting baby #2 at thanksgiving, my MIL yelled out “well I’m not even going to be here” in an irritated voice. She goes away to Palm Springs for three - four months every winter/spring. Everyone at the table was silent and then her other DIL started laughing. I’m completely turned off by her. I don’t even care to have her visit anyway and have never had her care for my older child. I would never voluntarily have her take care of my kids because she’s completely selfish (as illustrated by her reaction to the announcement) and doesn’t follow any direction because she knows better. She never once has asked how I’m feeling while pregnant with either baby or after childbirth…she doesn’t ask me any questions about myself ever in fact. Never a how are you..nothing. She doesn’t care about anyone but herself. I genuinely think we’d be better off without her around. Originally I tried but I’ve sort of given up. She never says thank you or appreciates anything. Am I wrong to be offended ? Like no congratulations…just all about her. I responded with dry humour by saying…sorry we didn’t plan it around your vacation schedule 🙄. Am I the asshole ?
