Early pregnancy question

So I think I’m about 5 weeks pregnant maybe 6, I’ve been eating loads of spinach and green veg the last week since finding out as I want to be healthy for the baby. I’ve noticed I’m getting super gassy and also loose (but still solid) more frequent bowel movements. Do you think this is normal due to the increase in veg? Or should I be worried it’s something else? Marking as sensitive as I know some people won’t want to talk about this! 😂

Context - I know I’m pregnant just not sure how far as I haven’t had midwife appointment yet x

Being gassy is very normal as well as being bloated :)

Definetly increase in fibre from veg.... this is good though... its healthy

Just out of interest why have you increased spinach and green veg in particular?

@Amy more folic acid and nutrients x

Sounds to me like the diet change… enjoy it whilst it lasts as soon as the placenta attaches and slows your metabolism down to draw as much from your food as possible it won’t be so soft… but make sure you mention it to the midwife too if you are still concerned x

@Kathryn oh tell me about it! this is my second and my first I was soooo constipated throughout that’s why I was worried 😂xx

Being more gassy and having more easier and frequent bowel movements is very common when eating a lot more vegetables, especially greens! I’m currently 35 weeks and have increased my green veg intake due to low iron and I am experiencing the exact same thing. It’s also great that you are starting it from early as it will help keep your nutrients up and especially your iron levels which is very important to keep up, in general, but especially in pregnancy!! Congratulations on your new pregnancy and good luck on your wonderful journey☺️☺️ xx
