Gaviscon constipation

For those who’s babies have tried gaviscon, has it also made them constipated and if so does that go away in time? Currently the tummy wind and troubles are worse than the orginsk silent reflux

It never went away, was managed with laxatives.. but I ended up stopping both because it made everything worse xx

@Caroline thank you, tricky to understand if the reflux or tummy issues are more uncomfortable for her 😢

Was on gaviscon for a month no improvement with my LO ended up constipated. Got prescribed laxatives in the end but 15mls of cool boiled water helped in the mean time before getting prescribed laxatives.

@E how old was your baby at the time? My girl is 4 months and I’ve heard water is not advised until 6 months

She started on it when she was 6 weeks old. My HV advised me about the water which is fine as long as it’s 15mls

My lo was 8 weeks when she started gaviscon (she was only on 1 sachet 4 times a day though). We managed the constipation with cooled boiled water as advised by the dr. It had to be cooled boiled water until she was 6 months then we could change to tap water and she was allowed up to 1oz per month of age so at 3 months she was allowed 3oz, 4months = 4oz etc

What formula is your little one on??? How much gaviscon are you using and how many oz of formula per feed?

My Lo Was on gaviscon for 4 months and it worked wonders. At the beginning she was so constipated and then she overpassed it and she wasn’t anymore. You just have to be patient. I didn’t use any laxatives, constipation went on its own
