How do you get you LO tested for milk allergy?

My doctors never listened to me when he was a baby (he’s now 2years 2months) As soon as I stopped his milk, with doctors orders his personality changed for the better but realised when he had things with milk in he would then go back to high temperature, stomach pain, constipated, no sleeping, crying, rigid body movements. So we cut out milk. He was 1 year 10 months when we introduced little bits every 3 days but by the 5th day he was poorly again so we went back to milk free. Any advice is welcome 🤗

To my knowledge there is no test to confirm a dairy allergy. It’s through removal and if it works your child is allergic, if not there maybe another issue. There is such a thing as Ige and non ige testing but dairy rarely comes up in they tests whether you know your allergic or not. If you believe your son is allergic to dairy, you could use the milk ladder to reintroduce, but if you get to a certain step and he reacts then you need to go back to the previous step after a couple months of body recovery. However say you got to step 8 of the 12 step ladder and he only reacted at step 8 you could still continue the first 7 steps of this ladder only wait a couple months to begin step 8 again. It’s advised not to do this whilst child is ill of any kind including teething as he may show reaction but it could be through illness and not dairy.

This all sounds like a non ige delayed reaction which means as above its only by elimination and reintroduction an allergy is confirmed although usually this is done under 6 months with what's called the milk challenge Now he is over a year old I'd suggest staying df for at least 3 months and then Google the map milk ladder and follow that, it's the safest way to reintroduce milk and if symptoms come back you'd wait another 3 to 6 months to try again Rachel has given a good idea of how to do the milk ladder with dropping back to the step that was tolerated Also you can take each step slower if you wanted to Definitely ask gp to refer you to a dietician as they can help too

Both my sons had the cows milk protein allergy and my two year old had to send off a poop sample when he was an infant. And then when he was 1 they did an actual scratch allergy test.

My LO is 2 now and I suspected she had a milk allergy from about two weeks old, she was breastfed and I noticed whenever I had dairy she reacted. The GP finally believed me at 6 weeks and she had special formula milk. When she was a year old we found out she had a soya allergy too as it is a similar protein as mammal milk. Have tried the milk and soya ladders since she was a year old and bless her she still can't handle it. She gets a hive type rash, soreness in nappy area, bloating, gas, milk constipated her and soya gives her the runs. She never had any testing other than take it away and reintroduce it.

Thank you all! (Sorry for the delay) I have an appointment at doctors for him on the 16th so I will go from there and update you all if you’d like ☺️
