I don’t know about you, but I like to think about the companies behind all these apps. They’re so manipulative that they created this interface specifically designed to hold my attention for as long as possible. Sometimes my anger at that reminder is enough to get me away from my phone screen for awhile! Additionally, I use an e-reader for books which is a screen but feels much more fulfilling! And I’m not scrolling through, which limits some of that seratonin!
I'm guilty of this. You can put time limits on your phone and then you won't be able to access the apps
Look up the app Minimalist Phone
Keep your phone in another room while you are awake with the kids. Maybe give yourself breaks for when you go to the bathroom if all day is too hard cold turkey. This will remove the temptation of having such easy access. Keep a screen time app on your phone and start tracking your use. You master what you measure.
Only thing that worked for me was deactivating my accounts and deleting all the apps off my phone. 2 years strong now 💪🏻
Delete whichever apps are the ones sucking up all your time
@Emily exactly I am only hoping I could go back to watching TV series or shows far better than scrolling on short videos on social media!
@CiCi problem is a kind of a workaholic person so I don’t really have hobbies …. The only thing that distract me from this is ofc work or if I have some work to be done in the house or busy with something-but these aren’t all the time and they aren’t really hobby
Getting back into reading has helped me a lot. I have no desire to binge TV shows or scroll when I can dive into a good book!
Have you tried replacing your screen time with another hobby? Like exercising, knitting, coloring/painting, etc? Or just any task that will keep you off your phone?
