Periods and breastfeeding?

So I’m quite confused right now…..I’m a ftm and my son is 6 weeks old and I exclusively breastfeed, I’ve heard that while exclusively breastfeeding you don’t get periods but apparently I’ve just got mine. Is it normal to get periods while breastfeeding? Could having PCOS and the imbalance of hormones affect it I don’t know🤷🏻‍♀️ Is this normal?

This is normal. Everyone is different. Mine came back after 4 months, a friends still isn't back x

Same here, I have pcos. I ebf too and I got my first period 5 weeks pp.. just going to see if I get a second or a pattern now x

I’m 7 weeks and mine has just come back. Also EBF. I feel robbed!

A day shy of 9 weeks, also ebf and it seems that mine has also returned 🥲

No PCOS here and I got mine back at 4w and 6w w my babies

I got a period at 6weeks pp but never got another one, currently 4 months pp

Mine came back at 6 weeks and EBF, I felt a bit short changed!

Super normal! And this is why medical practitioners want to make sure we all have contraception plans, because breast-feeding by itself is not a contraception plan!

unfortunately breastfeeding doesn’t guarantee that you won’t have a period for awhile. i was disappointed too 😅

Everyone is different i hadn't got mine before getting nexaplanon put in. About a month after that I bled for 2 weeks not heavy but similar to my reg then lightly. I haven't had a period since then. I stopped bf and pumping around 3ish months. My daughter just turned 5 months

There's a huge range of normal for this. Some people get their period back early whilst breastfeeding and some don't get it back until they wean with lots of variation in between. I don't think it's known why there is so much difference it would all be considered normal.

I had one at around 6 weeks and then not again until around 6 months...who knows lol 😅
