Feeling rejected

Hi everyone I know this is probably so silly but I have a nearly 22 month old. He has been mostly a mummy’s boy up until til a few weeks ago. When he goes to his grandparents or other family members he forgets I exist he even tells me to go away. They end up doing all the mummy things with him that I feel is my job. I feel so rejected by him it really hurts I know this is probably so silly but it’s also coz my in-laws have hurt me in the past and I do feel quite uncomfortable when he is around them but I have no choice. I feel like I’m losing my child. I’m am literally crying all the time

I completely understand this :( I'm sorry you feel this way hun. It's horrible x 💔

It's completely normal for kids this age. "Not you" is the most common phase that's how they establish independence it's a sign he's developing well. Good job mamma! It stings but that great news 😊

@Klaudia thanks made me feel a bit better I’m reading about this stage now. It’s just heartbreaking 💔

@Melissa I have never spoken to my child like that. And it’s difficult to get a one year old to understand how hurtful go away is, do you have any suggestions? I speak to him all the time he is actually quite advanced for his age in speech people have commented a lot how intelligent and friendly he is too, I think it’s just quite exciting when he’s around new people and he doesn’t want me to disturb his fun. It is hurtful though
