What are some of the iron rich foods(vegetarian please) that you ladies have in your diet? I’m 15 weeks pregnant and taking iron supplements too but my OB told me today im very low on my iron 😟 now i know spinach helps but my problem is this pregnancy is giving me hard time and even the thought of having spinach makes me nauseous 😭 any help will be appreciated 🙏

I unfortunately don’t have any advice I fought low iron with my first and had to have iron transfusions when I went in for delivery and a couple afterwards.
I don’t have any suggestions for iron rich food. But my midwife told me with my iron supplements to take with vitamin c (orange or tomato juice), take 1 hour before eating or 2 hours after, and to avoid magnesium and calcium intake when you take the iron, and to take it every other day instead of daily.
I take my iron first thing in the morning, every other day, with orange juice. I don’t eat until at least 1 hour after taking it, and I just avoid taking any other meds at that time as well. I take all my other vitamins at 6:30 at night. In 4 weeks, my midwife said my iron levels increased beautifully.
I actually do have iron rich food suggestions. I just realized my midwife gave me some when I checked my messages lol.
“Increase iron-rich foods like red meat (especially liver), poultry, fish, cooked leafy green vegetables, black strap molasses, black-eyed peas, pumpkin seeds, lentils, soybeans, prunes, egg yolks. Cook vegetables in minimal amount of water for shortest time to preserve iron content (bake or steam to maximize nutrition), and consider cooking in a cast iron skillet.
Black strap molasses is easy to mix in milk, coffee, or a smoothie. It is not only rich in iron, but other essential minerals as well, and it isn't hard on the GI system.”

Hey, I'm vegetarian and didn't eat any food for about 4 or 5 months, too sick, but as soon as I could my diet was mainly home made muesli packed full of sunflower seeds pumpkin seeds almonds etc. As many seeds as possible. As much leafy greens as you can, kale is higher than spinach. And add lentils to all of your salads. Even if you are the biggest meat eater, you can get low iron in pregnancy, so don't blame being vegetarian. It can happen to anyone no matter what they eat. Just apart of the journey 🤍
