C section wound!

Is anyone else’s wound area smelling really really bad?😷 it’s definitely not infected, but it smells so bad! Not sure whether it’s cause it’s getting hot and sweaty but it’s gross. Anyone else had the same thing?

When you have a shower try dab dry and lay on your bed to air dry xx

Mine was like this and then I got red patches from a sweat rash which turned into a fungal infection. I wash mine 3 times a day and apply anti fungal cream to the effected area and put a maternity towel in between my pouch to soak up any sweat and this has reduced my sweat rash

How long has it been since your section? I had problems with mine in the first month or so. I was told it’s because the mummy pouch makes it hard to keep the wound dry and aired out. Midwives advised taping a maternity pad to it to help for a while. Did that for a week or so and it helped, even if it wasn’t the most comfortable. Also cleaned and dried at least twice per day and was told whenever possible to lie and air it out.

How are you cleaning it? Newer research shows that using a mild unscented soap massively reduces the bacteria build up around the wound without affecting the wound. Also the cool setting on the hairdryer is amazing for drying it off quickly after a shower or just in the day when you haven’t got time to sit and air the wound out

Dermol lotion, used as bodywash. Was the area and then pat dry with a microfibre cloth, used only for your scar. The Dr prescribed me the Dermol but can be bought OTC and pharmacist recommended the microfibre towel to pat dry. All cleared up now and no smell. I did also have antibiotics though because a smell usually signifies infection x
