Would you be mad?

Mother in law is cooking raw meat and wearing disposable gloves to touch the meat. With the same gloves on, she goes to pick up a cooked mushroom and places it INSIDE my 2 year old’s mouth.

Maybe explain to her how food cross contamination occurs? She might have just had a brain fart as I’m known to have them often right now being pregnant but I even have different cutting boards for meats and vegetables to keep them separated. I would be concerned too but I’m sure she’s not like actively trying to get your lo sick!

Yes!! Might have interfere with contact if you can if this is a habit. Try not to let your baby in the kitchen without you. I wouldn't leave my baby alone with her unless I had to. Can you express your concerns to the child's Dad? My baby's dad and I have a silent communication and I know he would just know what I'm thinking. I would find a way to talk to him about it. This sounds like something that would happen at my Mother's house or his Mom's house.

@Kira definitely could have been a lapse in actions. Brain farts happen a lot. It didn't sound intentional here but it could have been. If there's communication use it! So many people aren't lucky to have communication.

Unless it is chicken, then it doesn't matter too much. If it is red meat, you can eat red meat raw anyway.

She works in the deli section at a big, well known grocery store 🤦‍♀️ she literally deals with making food all day for her job and I can’t believe she did this. After she did it, my husband was like “mom, you were just touching raw meat with those gloves.” And she just shrugged it off and said it was fine. I’m livid!! I hope my daughter doesn’t get sick from that..

I accidentally put no after reading, and not re-reading the question. After reading the explanation, my brain just went 'no - that is not okay' so I clicked no 😅 Anyways, I'm sorry that is happening, clearly she's not thinking about WHY she's using the gloves in the first place. I would flat out ask, 'why are you touching anything other than the raw food that you are using the gloves for?' that's infuriating, a waste, and concerning for the thought of any other food prep that she ever does.

I would probably have a heart attack

I would be so mad. I have a degree in food science and 14 years of experience working in food safety and quality at food factories. I don’t take things like this lightly.

Omg I can’t believe she works with food all day and did this! I’m guessing then that they don’t handle their foods well at her work as if that was the case I wouldn’t think she would accidentally done this! That’s concerning!
