Latch

Anyone else have a GREAT latch on one side but painful on the other. Is this a positioning issue?

Yess! My breast feeding support nurse is coming to visit shortly so if theres any tips she gives me ill let you know x

Thank you! I need to call about getting one.

I was suggested to try the rugby ball position on the boob they're struggling on! Supporting baby's neck with your hand and laying them the opposite way you normally would so their body is going under your arm almost if that makes sense? Look for a breastfeeding support group as well if you can find one! Mine has been an absolute lifesaver!

@Hannah I'm assuming you are from the UK! I'm pretty sure this is the "football" hold here. I didn't have latching issues with my son. And didn't do very well with my older girls. Thank you I will try this out!

@Brianne I am indeed! I think it's supposed to work because they're on the same side as they would be on the boob with the good latch so hopefully it works for you!

@Hannah definitely was less painful latching her this way. And no pain after the initial latch!

So she said its because of my boobs being different sizes (quite a difference) and so when im helping him on i need to position him slightly differently. Before latchint my “bad side” she said just stop and check my posture and his position and to be honest ive just done my first feed on that side since she left and she was right i just need to stop and slow down the process for that side x

@Sarah is the bigger one your "bad" side? Because yes my left is much much larger than my right. So this would make sense. the position change helped. But her head is so heavy to hold that way.

@Brianne yeah my bigger one is my “bad side” she said i could roll a muslin cloth up or something similar under my breast to lift it slightly to aid with the side difference too x

Hahaha I didn't know the football hold is the rugby ball. At first I was like, huh? But I put 2 n 2 together n then saw it in the comments... but yes, that way works well for me!!
