**TW - Talk of MMC**

Hi All

**TW - Talk of MMC**

Just found out I'm going through another MMC at 10 weeks. This will be my 5th in just under 2 years. After numerous testing and everything coming back with no problems with myself or my partner I'm at a loss of what to do next. This pregnancy I started progesterone pessaries as soon as I got a positive test which was around 3 1/2 weeks.

Going back to EPU on Sunday to discuss options. I'm probably going to opt for medical management and send remains off to be genetically tested this time around.

I also wanted to hear any experiences with NK Cell testing...as this is something else I've been researching and thinking of testing?

I'm 32 and my partner is 46 and the urge to be parents is so strong and we are just left utterly heartbroken once again. We throught this would be the one after seeing a strong and healthy heartbeat on Christmas eve at 7 +2 weeks.

Has anyone got any success stories after going through recurrent miscarriage?

Any advice would be appreciate and sorry to all the other loss momma's. It really is so unfair x

So sorry you’re going through this.

I haven’t had NK cell testing, but I am part of the IVF community and lots of people have it there, it may be worth exploring, with you having more than 3 miscarriages you should be able to get help from the recurrent miscarriage clinic. Also Kathryn Ryan had it and she went on to have 2 children once they changed her protocols.

You could also consider getting your husband’s sperm tested. One of my work colleagues husbands sperm was an issue and it meant she would always miscarry. It was suggested for my husband before our last ivf round, we decided not to do it but if we had reoccurring miscarriages we probably would have got it tested.

@Danielle
Hey! ❤️ I've been discharged from the recurrent miscarriage clinic due to all test coming back normal....all my partners sperm test that we have paid for have come back normal as well with no abnormalities. I've also paid to check my egg quality and no problems there...Also been declined IVF as we can get pregnant...sooo just wondered what my options are now and if NK Cell testing would make a difference and if anyone had any success stories after having NK Cells tested xx

The sperm testing we were offered was DNA testing. It was above the standard testing. It wasn’t cheap though, was about £2000 at my clinic,
I would try NK, EMMA and ALICE testing. These are common when ivf has recurrent miscarriages or implantation failures. I would do these first. If these come back normal maybe look at his sperm again.

@Danielle yeah we have done the DNA fragmentation testing too all normal for age and was confirmed that wasn't the problem. Thankyou! Will do some research and mention those at my next appointment ❤️

No direct experience but my friend had recurrent miscarriages, would get pregnant and then have a loss by week 8, about 10 times. Went through 3 failed rounds of IFV and had every test under the sun. After an ectopic, stopped trying for 6 months as she had a lot of trauma and then one month got the green light to try, tried naturally and got pregnant that month! It got to the point where there looked like there may be no hope but a miracle happened and now she has her baby. 🥹
I’m so sorry this has happened to you x

I've been pregnant 7 times, 2 mmc, 2 spontaneous mc, 2 healthy births and my current pregnancy. I had testing, no indicators of why but I just wanted to give you a bit of hope among the grief. My two children are now 12 and 10 and happy and healthy and full of neurospiciness 🥰

I'm sorry you are going through this, it's so hard 😔 ❤️

Small head reported following 20 week scan

Has anyone else had it flagged that their baby is in the bottom 5th percentile for head size?

They said everything was fine whilst we were in the scan and then I got a phone call the next day saying that it’s on the small side and we’re being referred to a paediatric specialist at St George’s. Has anyone else had this and how did things go??

Would you bring 9 week old to a family party of 35+ people?

These are also people who will want to pass the baby around and get a turn to hold him. He just got his 2 month shots two days ago

Exercise 6 weeks after c section

What movement did people start to introduce? I won’t do anything too vigorous until I’ve seen the pelvic physio as I don’t want to compromise anything that may have been extremely weakened through pregnancy! But just wondering what types of classes/movement people started off with?

Induction experience

I just wanted to share my experience with being induced as I wasn’t sure what to expect and thought it may help others.

I opted for the foley balloon which was inserted at 8am Saturday morning, I had to stay in hospital due to hypertension and protein urine however usually you can just go home once this has been done. The insertion of the balloon was not painful, was slightly uncomfortable as there was slight pressure. I actually found having the cervix checked prior to be worse (again not painful at this point just uncomfortable) The balloon had little effect and after having it removed I was still only 1cm. Removal also was pain free and hardly even noticeable.

I then had my first dose of the gel and definitely noticed a difference, I started experiencing period like cramps almost immediately however they were light and manageable. After 6 hours I had another cervix check and although my cervix was soft it was still only 1cm and was only open at the front. I had another dose of the gel and felt an increase in pressure and more intense cramping where I now required pain relief (codeine). After another 6 hours I had another cervix check and I had now dilated to 2-3cm however was still quite difficult to get all the way through so a third gel was recommended which I agreed to.

Almost immediately I noticed the difference and was in considerable pain, I had paracetamol and codeine however the contractions had now become intense and a lot closer together (around 3 minutes apart). After a couple of hours I had my last cervix check and was 4cm and taken down to the Labour ward to have my waters broken and an epidural.

I had been in my room for approx 20minutes when my waters broke by themselves and I was now 10cm and actively pushing…. There was no time for the epidural and my beautiful girl arrived into the world within 2 minutes of pushing.

All in all I would say the cramps/contractions were manageable up until the third gel where it became pretty unbearable however it was for a very short time a gas and air helped take the edge off. The worst part about any of it was actually the later cervix checks where after stimulating the cervix my contractions were at their most painful.

If I had to be induced again I would skip the balloon and opt for the gels immediately as thy had a quicker effect and I would have been out a lot sooner if I had done this to begin with.

One more thing, I’ve never believed when people say “you forget the pain once they’re here” but I can honestly say this is true. It’s been 4 days and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
