We use anti reflux milk and honestly it’s a con🤣 I’m so sick of washing and it’s painful for my LG. I sit her up after feeding, lay her down on her play mat and she is instantly sick. She can roll now as well so it’s even worse when she rolls onto her stomach🤦🏼♀️ feel like I’m loosing my mind
The doctor/HV just said to use food instead of thickeners as he didn’t use to poo much so they didn’t recommend meds. We have to use size 1 tears because he downs it so quick otherwise and throws it straight back up :(
@Lauren it’s so hard isn’t it. It’s sooo much washing. My clothes, his clothes, muslin cloths, our bedding ughhh. Our sofa is wrecked
@Becky she’s constantly getting a sore neck as well it’s the most annoying thing in the world
With reflux they advise smaller & more often feeds. So 2/3oz every 2 hours or so. We use carobel to thicken milk as the alfamino is so thin! You can buy it over the counter in a pharmacy so you don't need your GP to authorise it. We use 2 scoops per 6oz bottle. We can't have a bottle without it- it's been a godsend! We also use "X" mam teets on his bottle. We've also started weaning from 18 weeks and have noticed a difference with that thankfully. The dietician tried him on omeprazole but it made him worse so we stopped that. Its such a shame for them at times!
@Lauren ugh I know :( poor things
@Eli we were doing that up until he was 4.5 months and it didn’t work so upped the feeds and still doesn’t work :( I don’t realy want to give him a thickener if food isn’t helping as it’s basically the same idea. As he doesn’t poo too often it could back him up and cause more issues. He’s more sicky when he’s trying to poo.
I lie my LB on his side to sleep. Then after a while usually before I got to bed I move the pillow and he sleeps on his back xx
@Katie he always falls asleep on us. Every nap is a contact nap so he’s always upright before we lie him down at night for bed
In a similar position with our little boy who also has a diary allergy! Not sure if this will work for you, but we’ve actually found feeding him flat-ish laying across us and then keeping him on his back or in a flat-ish position eg on a playmat for 20 mins after feeds way better than keeping him upright. We were following the ‘upright for 20 mins’ guidance too and it didn’t seem to work for us.
Have you tried adding carobel to feeds? It has helped our LB. He’d also allergic to dairy and on Aptamil Pepti 1. We use size 3 teats, add the Carobel & keep him upright for 20 mins and that helps a lot. He’s still a little bit sicky but it’s a big improvement. You can get it from most chemists, but they don’t stock it at Boots.
