Baby boy is finally here!

Austin Elliott born January 8th (due date was the 4th) He was my first baby and ended up being 8lbs 12 oz! L&D was a really tough one. After they broke my water, his heart rate plummeted from 150 bmp to 70. Scariest moment of my life when a whole team rushed in. Throughout the rest of labor, his heart rate was not reacting well to my contractions. They discovered he was sunny side up. I was eventually given a choice between an emergency C-section or a vacuum assisted birth with an episiotomy. We ended up with the latter because I was able to make progress with pushing. He had the umbilical cord around his neck when he came out, which explained his heart rate issues. I'm so incredibly grateful that he's here and healthy. Nothing else matters. Best decision I could have made for myself was getting that epidural. I was so afraid of it, but it was a breeze and saved me from a lot of pain during intervention. It's all definitely worth it in the end! I'm so in love with my sweet boy 🥹💙

@Alyssa yes you're right we do have our baby boys and that is all that matters at the end of it. I do agree that those contractions were much worse than I thought they would be

Congratulations

Cutie!! Congratulations! 🩵💙. I had a similar experience with my son, he was also sunny side up- those back contractions are no joke!! He had his cord twice wrapped around his neck. So scary!!

So you said you went with the vacuum assisted birth? How quickly were they able to get him out? Sounds so scary 🥴 I’m happy your baby is here and healthy and that you are too, congrats!

@Fran Thank you! Once they put the vacuum on his head, it pulled him right out. I just had to push for a while to get him in a low enough position for them to use it
