We had my daughter’s ties revised when she was 3 months old and I wish we would’ve realized and done it sooner. Made such a difference in her feeding and weight gain, although I still had to use the nipple shield for our entire breastfeeding journey (23 months). The recovery is not bad at all; she was definitely sore for the first day and the stretches were not fun for either of us to do, but we gave her Hyland’s natural teething tablets to help with the pain and they were great. https://a.co/d/710S7Gf
We got our sons tongue tie cut at 4days old, they didnt give anything they just swaddled him up tight and cut it. Took 2 seconds, he cried and ate normally right after. Helped him a lot with feeding better.
Oh and follow up with infant chiropractic or cranial sacral body work for him too as that will also help him a ton!
@GMF we have to get it done at a dentist office and the doc told us she uses a numbing cream I guess kind of like oral gel to numb it even though she really doesn’t have to with the laser but she likes to just in case.
@Melea I’ll have to see if we have any thing like that here where I live
Have they told you there would be anesthesia involved? My son’s oral ties were released when he was 6 weeks old and it probably took all of 15 seconds with a laser. He was able to nurse right afterward. It’s an extremely simple procedure. Sometimes eating might be slightly tricky after just because they’re learning how to use their tongue once they have full range of motion! The doctor will likely tell you some exercises you’ll do in the weeks after to make sure it doesn’t reattach.
